American Idol - Hollywood Round #1

Okay, so I sort of bailed on posting about the first-round auditions. Let's face it - it sort of all runs together. There wasn't really a stand-out whacky person, and we didn't really get to see many of the contestants who made it through.

So.

Let's get to Hollywood, shall we?

I think Barry Manilow has had some work done, don't you? He's my fave.

And now we're on to the first eliminations. I DO NOT get why people act like total fools when they're eliminated. Seriously, as Simon told young Dennis, "You just reinforced my decision...."

Y'all, this little Nathaniel with the earrings in his face? How precious is he?

Oh, and Anoop? Love him.

Also loving Rose from Idaho with the blonde dreadlocks. She's a doll.

I am SO surprised that Nick Mitchell came to Hollywood with this Norman Gentle schtick. The guy can freaking sing; why does he insist on diluting it with the foolishness? And somehow he got through to the next round.

Bikini Girl is ridiculously arrogant and I'm very disappointed with Simon for supporting her. Hopefully it's a joke. It's got to be a joke.

Still love Jeremy Sarver from Jasper, Texas. So glad he's through to the next round.

Love David Osmond, love Emily the Punk Rock Girl.

And here's where my closing would go if I had time to write one.

American Idol Season 8 - Week #1 Auditions

THIS is American Idol.

Can I tell y'all something? I was SO not into last season's American Idol. Maybe I'm getting too old; I don't know. I just know that everyone I liked left early and I lost interest.

So anyway.

This season we have a new judge, and I am SO over the drama about that.

Do I sound cranky? Dang, I don't mean to.

And on to Phoenix.

Poor little Randy the Rocker. He hasn't even sung yet and he's got my heart, the little crybaby. And his voice just wasn't there. Wah.

HEY, I thought there weren't gonna be as many horrible people this season. WHAT IS UP?

Did you see the guy with the star rhinestone earrings? I SWEAR, I had those same earrings in the late 80's.

Hello, Michael from Jasper, Texas. Like ya.

Bikini girl? HORRIBLE. And also rude.

I liked the blonde girl with gorgeous eyes.

And most important? I like the new judge. Cara. So far, anyway.

Dancing With The Stars - October 6

Hey, y'all. Back, by popular demand, it's my witty commentary on Dancing With The Stars!

I believe it may be random.

Observation Number One: Julianne Hough's wig is whack.

Observation Numero Two-O: So are Toni Braxton and Cloris Leachman's!

Now let's get down to the dancing.

Susan Lucci and Tony Dovolani - LOVE me some Tony Dovolani! But Erica seems very tentative tonight, doesn't she? Maybe she's intimidated by the jive?

SCORE: 21

Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer - I gotta tell y'all, I'm not a big Lacey fan. She was okay on So You Think You Can Dance, but she's way too mouthy on DWTS. They did do a much more traditional choreography this time, though, so that's good.

SCORE: 22

Maurice Green and Cheryl Burke - I started out apathetic about this couple, but NOW I'm a Maurice Green Fan! He's so engaging in this dance, and I can't stop watching his fancy cute little footwork!

SCORE: 24

Rocco and Karina - Bless his little geeky heart, it seems more like a circus dance than an elegant waltz. Might have something to do with the jangly house band, though. How dare they ruin one of my favorite Tom Jones songs?

SCORE: 20

Warren Sapp and Kym Johnson - Before they start, let me tell you that this guy was THE BOMB last week doing the Pasa Doble! How cute is this big ol' teddy bear of a football player? (I must say, though, that I think there's nothing more putrid than maroon and pink together. ICK) Loved their Viennese Waltz, though. Aw...do you think he might have a little crush on Kym?

SCORE: 25!

Cody and Julianne - He's such a kid, isn't he? And did I mention that her wig looks cheap? The dance looks GREAT though.

SCORE: 21

Toni Braxton and The Guy With Long Hair - This costume? Y'all, please. The dance, together with the music, are interesting. But how can the judges see what her legs or feet are doing with that big ol' curtain hiding her bottom half? Plus, my Tinkerbell thinks she spotted a lift.

SCORE: 22

Cloris and Corky: Oh, give me strength. How incredibly sad was that?

SCORE: 16

Brooke and Derek: Beautiful. And also sort of boring. And what the heck was that song?

SCORE: 28

So. My favorites tonight? Warren for sure, and maybe even Maurice. Rocco because I root for underdogs, and of course I do love me some Erica Kane.

Going home? Cloris Leachman. Please.

Big Brother Observations

Hey, are y'all watching Big Brother? It's one of my guilty pleasures, and I've noticed something very unusual about this season.

Nobody's walking around half-nekkid.

If you watch Big Brother, you've surely aware of the fact that the women walk around the house in bikinis, even the last season that was filmed in winter.

It's always puzzled me why these people seem to wear their swimsuits 24/7. But this season? Not so much. I'm not complaining, mind you. The guys are probably hatin' it, but me? I'm cool.

Dancing With The Stars Contestants!

I'm looking forward to Rocco DiSpirito, Maurice Green, Cody Linley, Misty May-Treanor, Ted McGinley and Warren Sapp. I'm warning ya, though, my picks are subject to change at a moment's notice.

So You Think You Can Dance ~ July 23

I haven't blogged about SYTYCD in a few weeks, and I really hadn't intended to put anything out there tonight, but hey, I can't seem to keep my thoughts to myself lately, so here ya go.

First observation, WHAT IS UP with Mary Murphy tonight? She looks oh, so pretty, almost like she had some work done. Is it her teeth? Her hair? She had no time to have actual work done, but something looks spectacular.

And speaking of spectacular-looking judges, how about Toni Basil? She hasn't aged a bit; in fact, she looks so much better than she did in her Oh, Mickey days.

Katie and Twitch's contemporary routine was absolutely brilliant. P.S., I went straight to Amazon.com and downloaded that song, Mercy, by Duffy.

Will's James Brown routine was cute.

LOVED Comfort and Mark's Hip-Hop routine. Loved it. And also, did I mention that I loved it?

Yeah, not so much the Fox Trot. It didn't suck, though.

Joshua and his little blonde doing Disco was fun. Love that song, too!

I think my favorite guys are Joshua and Twitch...oh, wait what about Will? Okay, let's just send Mark home this week and sort it out later.

As far as the girls go, I'm only really crazy about Courtney. After her, my order is Chelsea, Katie, Comfort.

John & Kate Plus 8

Is this woman serious?

We've been watching John & Kate Plus 8 for a long time. I've always been bothered a little by the way that John and Kate speak to each other, but think that Kate is particularly hateful and demeaning to her husband sometimes.

I've seen interviews where Kate says something along the lines of, "there's no time to be polite," or, "if we don't say what we mean right away, we'll never have time to communicate."

Okay. I've never bought those excuses for belittling your spouse, but hey, if it works for them...right?

So today we're watching the "Embarrassing and Favorite Moments" episode. In the first 5 minutes of the show, here's what we see.

First there's a very old clip of John making an unkind remark to Kate. They discuss the clip, where John says he shouldn't have said it, he realizes it was rude and unkind, etc. Kate says she can't believe he said that, and explains why she was particularly grumpy that day. She educates John on the proper way to express one's dissatisfaction to one's spouse, and says that she's tried to train him for their entire marriage.

Next up is a clip where Kate shouts at John in the toy store. Her first comment is that John was playing like a child in the store instead of helping her. John attempts to explain what he was doing. Kate insists he was "playing like a child." She then goes on to say, "Well, I really wasn't that loud. It just sounded louder because I was wearing a mic."

So, in other words, Kate, you're saying that it was an embarrassing moment because John was misbehaving and when you corrected him it sounded louder than it really was because of the microphone? "I don't know what I would have done differently...but I just wish John...I wouldn't have yelled, obviously, but I wish John would be more sensitive and pay attention to the big picture of what's going on."

Now I know I can just change the channel. I know I can turn it off if it bugs me. But it's like a train wreck - I just can't stop watching. I'm fascinated at how deluded some people are about their shortcomings.

I'm not a perfect person, and you know what? I shout at my kids more than I should and I'm even catty with my husband occasionally. But I KNOW THAT IT'S WRONG and I try to improve. I don't try to justify my behavior by blaming it on someone else.

What makes me sad is that Kate Gosselin isn't the only wife (or husband or supervisor or etc.) who behaves this way. She's just the one who is so sure she's right that she'll go on national television and say so.

So You Think You Can Dance ~ June 25

Welcome to the show. It's late and I'm tired, so I can't guarantee that my comments will be concise or rational.

Could be more fun that way, huh?

Question Number One: Was Kat's nose always so crooked? Don't get me wrong - she's GORGEOUS. I just don't remember noticing her nose last season.

Now let's get on with the dancing.

Twitch and Kherington are up first with Hip Hop. I'm not gonna lie - I forgot to watch them. The judges liked 'em though.

Courtney and Gev - Rumba
I thought it was gorgeous, filled with emotion and I absolutely loved the music.

Tink: That was beautiful.
Big Daddy: I thought so.

Chris and Comfort - Yeah I don't really know what to say. Seriously. I don't know if it was good or not.

Jessica and Will - Disco
There were a couple of WOW moments, and the rest was completely boring. In my humble opinion. Big Daddy says they missed a turn and a lift.

Kourtni and Matt - Contemporary
Well, I liked it better than their previous performances.

Chelsea and Thayne - Quick Step
I'm sorry to be petty, but did she have on gold shoes with a gunmetal silver dress? Oh, no. And they should not have tried to give her an old-fashioned 'do. It just looks like a bad, raggedy wig. Oh, the dance? Meh.

The family liked it; the Mommy not so much.

Chelsie and Mark - Hip Hop
I'm not an expert on the Hippity Hop, but I thought it was good.

Katee and Joshua - Samba
I think it's the mark of an extremely good male dancer when he can make me watch him and ignore his partner. That's what I did here. Joshua reminded me of Emmitt Smith on Dancing With the Stars with his bit old thighs up there.

It's really hard this season, y'all. Everyone's pretty good at this point. Probably in trouble are Comfort and Chris, Jessica and Will & Chelsea and Thayne.

My favorites were Courtney and Gev.

Nashville Star - Pop Goes Country (June 23)

My mind is scattered tonight, so my comments probably will be, too. We'll get through it, though.

Item Number One: Like A Prayer? Spare me.

Soldier Boy is in the bottom two. Hey, I support the troops - let's get that out there straight up front. And I know he's got a military haircut. BUT. Don't y'all think he should put it in a little mohawk instead of those stringy bangs? Let me hear your thoughts on the matter.

Gabe's singing Livin' La Vida Loca tonight. Yeah, he tore it up. He's gotta win this thing, y'all.

Pearl Heart singing Love Shack? Oh, I don't know about this. Okay, so vocally I liked them better than in past weeks, but it's even better when I'm not watching the kid.

Alyson Gilbert - I Think We're Alone Now
Pitchy start. And you know what? I thought she sounded much better in the taped piece than she did in the live performance. She said she didn't want it to be boring, but IT WAS.

Ashley Hewitt is singing Britney Spears. It was just weird for me. Oh, hold on...about half-way through it got more interesting.

Coffey's up next, and he's singing Umbrella by Rihanna. And I didn't like it. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Laura and Sophie singing Michael Jackson? Oh my, no. Let's see what happens, shall we? It was much better than I expected! As far as I can tell they didn't pick the song, so I think they did the best they could with the song and arrangement.

Shawn Mayer is up next with Bye Bye Bye. Risky, yes, but let me tell you this. SHE KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK. In other words, people, I LIKED IT.

Yay, Melissa Lawson is NOT in the Bottom Two! And she's singing True Colors. Y'all know I love my Arlington girl, but I did not like the beginning of this song. She pulled it out, though, and (cornball alert) her true colors shone through in the end.

Justin Gaston - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Hey, it didn't suck. It's amazing how much difference the arrangement can make in a song.

Finally we have Tommy Stanley singing Maniac. And yeah, it's not country AT ALL. So hopefully he's out of here tonight.

BUT he's not. Wah. Justin's gone this week.

My least favorites were Alyson, Tommy and Coffey, and I really loved Shawn and Gabe.

So You Think You Can Dance ~ June 18

It's another week at So You Think You Can Dance. Mia Michaels' hair is platinum and Mary Murphy is bustin' out of that leopard-print dress, not to mention over-accesorized!

Chelsea and Thayne - Jazz
I love the dance, and I think they're both incredible, but her big old honkin' shoes are throwing me off a bit. Let me tell ya this, though - I was enthralled. I couldn't take my eyes off of them. Also, Thayne totally rocked the guy-liner.

Oh my, Mia didn't like it at all. Didn't work for Mary or Nigel either, dang it!

Mark and Chelsie - Argentine Tango
Seemed like she was watching her feet a lot. is that the way it's supposed to be? Other than that, I didn't notice much. It was a nice dance, but nothing special.

And what's odd is that the judges loved it.

Jessica and Will - Hip-Hop
It was cute. I don't know jack crap about Hip-Hop, so I can't say much more than that. Big Daddy says, "It's not strong enough," whatever that means. I will say one more thing - the dance seemed awfully LONG.

Mia Michaels said she didn't even know Jessica was there, but thinks Will was genius. Mary agrees with her, but I don't. I thought Jessica was cute, but I guess Hip-Hop shouldn't be cute. Nigel thinks that Jessica did a really good job, too.

You know what, Mia is so black and white with everything, and I think it has more to do with her personal preferences than objective critiques. But that's just me.

Kourtni and Matt - Fox Trot
Hmm. I enjoyed watching him, but her...not so much. He just showed so much more personality and spark than she did.

Courtney and Gev - Contemporary
Wow. I think they may have fumbled a few holds, but I thought it was beautiful.

Two out of the three judges liked it, too.

Katee and Joshua - Broadway
Cute. Very fun. Hey, have you noticed that all these barefoot girls have really dirty feet? Yuck.

Wow, Nigel totally lost his mind over this number. And Mary's a hot emotional mess.

Susie and Marquis - Salsa
Yeah, it was okay. Pretty but rough. And what was that black stuff in her hair?

Judges didn't really like it.

Kherington and Twitch - Viennese Waltz
GORgeous. Touching. Beautiful.

Hey, is Mia a little bitchy tonight? She definitely has her favorites, and Kherington isn't one of them.

Comfort and Chris - Krumping
It was a'ight. Chris probably isn't hitting hard enough, but I like these guys so I hope they can make it through to next week.

Oh my, but Nigel hated it!

Okay, so my bottom three tonight?

Kourtni and Matt, although really just Kourtni. I completely enjoyed Matt.
Susie and Marquis.

Nashville Star - June 16

Laura and Sophie are up first tonight, and as much as I like these girls, tonight's performance is not EVEN as good as last week. I think whichever one of them was singing the alto part got shortchanged. Their tie-dye shirts are cute, though. John Rich likes 'em, Jewel's not as enthusiastic, and Shaggy Blonde Judge was the most harsh. Jeffrey Steele, that's his name.

Ashlee Hewitt - Ring of Fire
It was a'ight. I like Ashlee and I hope she sticks around, but I wasn't all that impressed. The judges loved her thought, so YAY.

Justin Gaston
Well. Hmmm. He's cute.

Y'all, I just don't think the talent here is anywhere as good as on American Idol. Are these seriously the best people who auditioned for this show? A lot of the performances seem very High School Talent Show to me.

Alyson Gilbert
Now THIS is a good voice, and she made the song hers.

Hey, I like Billy Ray Cyrus, but he's not a great host. I'm just sayin'.

Pearl Heart
Poor little Lead Singer Girl just seems so awkward. Their performance is okay, but hopefully she'll get more comfortable as time goes on.

Tommy Stanley - Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy
Yeah, I agree with Jewel - he's pretty ballsy to sing this song in front of John Rich. BUT, he worked it out, and it was GREAT!

Gabe Garcia
Holy Smokes, people, Gabe's the one to beat. Well, maybe him and Melisa Lawson. WOW.

Shawn Mayer - He Stopped Loving Her Today
She's out here to show John Rich she's not a bar singer. Did she do it? I don't know; I think she depends too much on her runs and affectations. She's got a VERY good voice, but I don't think she's learned what to do with it yet.

Coffey - Waiting on the World to Change
His voice is much more suited to this song than whatever it was that he sang last week. Judges didn't feel it though.

And p.s., why did they suddenly start pronouncing his name "COFF-AY?"

Melissa Lawson is in the bottom 2, and I'm sad about this. Talent-wise, I think she's in the Top 2. But do you think people didn't vote for her cause she's a Big Girl? Her performance tonight was - That's Right -Top 2.

Please oh please oh please oh please.

Third Town is up last, and they're singing Mountain Music. Crazy Hair Boy sort of sounds like a Chipmunk, doesn't he? They're good, though, I have to admit.

But I still want 'em to go home, cause that means that Melissa gets to stay.

Right? I hope I understand the elimination process. We'll see in a minute.

The finalist receiving the least amount of America's votes is...Third Town.

Oh, thank goodness. Whew! Well I'd better get over to NBC.com and do some voting, huh?

Hey, y'all. In the magnificent smorgasbord of summer television, I'm picking up some shows I haven't watched in the past. Tonight it's Nashville Star. I've seen an episode here and there in the past, but since the show's on NBC this season it caught my eye and we're giving it a whirl.

First let's talk about Taylor Swift. Are they serious with her? Cause y'all, she's gorgeous but she can't sing. We saw her on Regis a few weeks ago, and our opinion today is the same: She mainly yells, but when she actually sings, it's horrible. And John Rich says she's the biggest thing in country right now? I just don't get it.

Tink: Do we have to listen to this? Finally, she's done.

Okay, on to the contestants.

Pearl Heart

I'm not impressed with the lead singer but the background harmonies are very pretty. I guess the bar's pretty low, cause the judges seemed to like 'em.

Tommy Stanley

Yeah, not impressed with him either. Sorry. Nowhere close to sounding professional. But he's got beautiful eyes.

Shawn Mayer

She's a mechanic, works on a hog farm, and she's a volunteer fireman. A real renaissance woman!

I'm bored and John Rich doesn't look happy at all.

Third Town

Don't y'all think it's weird that TWO GUYS spell their name Toni with an I? And they're singing Elvira. They seemed like they were singing in more than one key. And not on purpose. But the voices were good. Other than the whole key thing, that is.

Coffey

EW. I really wanted to like this guy cause he's from Texas, and he's got the whole single dad angle, but ugh.

Do y'all think that most contestants on American Idol are more professional and polished, overall?

Laura and Sophie

Wow, I can't believe these girls aren't sisters! Oh, and p.s. - they're my favorites so far. Yeah, they need some polish. But they've brought the most WOW in their voices and harmonies.

Gabe Garcia

He's from Lytle, Texas, so there's a point in my book already! Oh, and then he sings George Strait? And DOES IT GREAT! I heart his voice and he may be my Nashville Star boyfriend. Stay tuned.

Allison Gilbert

She didn't suck. In fact, in places her voice was pretty great. Good energy, too. Gratuitous run at the end, though. I agreed with John Rich that the beginning was rough.

Ashlee Hewitt

I think Ashlee has a beautiful voice. I really enjoyed her performance tonight, and can't wait to see what else she has to bring this season.

Charley Jenkins

Well, before Charley sings I'm afraid I may have another NS boyfriend. I hope Gabe doesn't get jealous. Hmmm...His voice sounds forced. I think he's got a good tone, but he needs some coaching or something. Pitchy maybe?

Well, I think the judges said what I couldn't figure out: Good guy, good voice, bad performance. The "performer" part of it was forced and unbelievable. So maybe he can fix this if he makes it through.

Justin Gaston

Pitchy. Or something. But there's potential here.

Melissa Lawson

Wife and Mother of 5! And she's another Texan! Please be good please be good please be good.

And she IS GOOD! It was the best performance all night, in my opinion. But she either needs a stronger undergarment or a longer shirt. I'm just sayin'.

So someone is going home tonight, I guess. And who's it gonna be? Bottom two are Charley and Allison, which I vehemently disagree with. Vehemently, I say. I've got it paused, cause I'm gonna tell you who my bottom two are. Let me look at my notes.

Okay, so my bottom two are Tommy, Shawn and Coffey. Yeah, I know that's three, cause I didn't like any of 'em. But the judges did, so let's see who's going home.

Was Kathie Lee Always Crazy?

Y'all, I think Kathie Lee Gifford is out of control.

I rarely watched Regis and Kathie Lee back in the day, because I worked for a living. So maybe she was crazy then and I didn't know it.

These days, I watch Regis and Kelly most mornings, because it comes on after our local Fox News, and oh yeah - because I like it! Kelly's funny and cute, Regis is funny and cranky, and it's just something nice to have on in the background.

So back to KL - Last week or the week before, when Heather Armstrong was on The Today Show, I watched the clip online. And Kathie Lee was a whack job. This subject has been addressed and re-addressed by half the Mom Bloggers in the universe, so I'll make just one point. The woman who talked about her kids every day, for humpteen years, on national television has a problem with bloggers talking about their kids on their blogs.

Huh?

BUT THEN, y'all, this morning I turned on The Today Show. No reason. And Kathie Lee, she is all over the place. Her guest couldn't finish a sentence without KL interrupting with some sarcastic or corny or just inappropriate comment. Seriously, it was ridiculous.

She's condescending, she's a name-dropper, and she's rude and disrespectful to her guests. I really believe she thinks this is comedy or humor or whatever. But it's not funny.

And I have no idea why NBC thinks this is good for business.

American Idol - The End

Yeah, so listen Dawg. I wasn't gonna post about the Finale of American Idol, because I just don't care.

I didn't even watch last night's performances.

But I turned on the show and my brain started rattling, so I'm gonna throw out some random observations about tonight's show.

First. How uncomfortable must those Davids have been to stand there in those white clothes staring at each other while Ryan Seacrest rambled on?

The camera work during the opening number drove me crazy. The Top 12 from both AI and So You Think You Can Dance? On the same stage? And with all that zooming and zigging and zagging, I never saw a thing. All that fancy camera work can kiss my butt. I just wanted to see the performers.

How uncomfortable did Amanda look performing the Donna Summer Mini Medley? It's hilarious. She was rocking her Power Scarf, though.

I'm concerned about the situation going on at the top of Paula's dress. The support structure appears to be insufficient. Please be on alert.

Dancing With The Stars - The Grand Finale!

LIVE, from Hollywood, this is the Finale of Dancing With The Stars!

You know what? I didn't think I'd last through this season of DWTS, but now I'm actually sad it's over.

Wah.

You know what else? I fast forwarded past Usher. Not interested.

Now we're learning who's in Third Place. EEK. It's my pretend boyfriend, Cristian. Double Wah.

Tink: Cristian was a good man. I can't believe they did that. Oh well, they don't need a trophy. Just like with Lightning McQueen, it's just an empty cup.

Their final dance was great. And Cheryl's costume was Beach Blanket Dominatrix. I crack myself up.

Poor Penn Jilette is still a big old oaf, but I wonder if he wouldn't look so awkward if he had worn better fitting clothes? Maybe not; what do I know?

I love Steve Guttenberg - and I think his dancing has improved, too.

My favorite segment so far? The Bro-mance clip of Cristian and Jason. TOOO fun.

I have a confession for y'all. It's now Wednesday Noon. I just ran out of things to say about the Grand Finale last night. But just in case you were dying to know what I thought, here are the highlights:

Usher bores me. And PS, he's also a bad lip synch'er.

All the PDA between the dancers sort of weirds me out, especially when so many of the stars are married folk.

Tom Bergeron is rarely funny.

Samantha Harris does little more than look good.

I saw such a transformation in Kristy Yamaguchi this season. She was always a good dancer, but she seemed to put so much more of her heart into it towards the end, and her personality became very relaxed and fun.

Why was Jason Taylor NFL's Man of the Year? I'm just wondering because the Dolphins didn't do very well, did they? I'm not saying he didn't deserve it; I just wonder what he DID to deserve it.

I also wonder why Edyta dresses like a sleaze. Seriously, I wonder about this.

I'm ready for Cheryl to get her hair off her cheek.

Still love Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani. They're the bomb.

Cristian is in a pilot that airs on USA, June 1. My DVR is set.

That's all, folks. I think Kristy deserved to win, but I wonder if anyone ever really had a chance with her skating background.

What's next? Maybe So You Think You Can Dance, although I don't know if I'll post about it every week. We'll see.

Dancing With The Stars - FINALE!

Wow, DWTS and American Idol both have their Finale this week!

I'm excited about Dancing With The Stars, but American Idol? I'm just ready for it to be over.

Hey, did y'all know that I have a thing for Cristian? And also Mark Ballas? Yeah, still do. Be advised.

I love watching the tape from rehearsals, because these guys are all so funny. Kristi even cracks a smile every once in a while!

So here comes the Cha Cha Face-Off. I'm so excitick (as my girls say)! And my boy Cristian is up first.

Does it seem like a double standard that I think Edyta dresses like a sleaze, but I love it when Cristian and Mark have their shirts hanging open? No? Good.

Rock that open purple shirt, Cristian! I thought their portion of the Cha Cha was great, although Cheryl seemed a little frantic in the beginning. She's not the one who's gonna win though, is she?

Now it's Jason and Edyta - doesn't really seem like a Cha Cha to me, but then what do I know? I know this - isn't the Cha Cha a Latin dance? Then I think the music should be Latin. OOH, but what a cute little flippity flip towards the end!

And once again, I can not watch Kristi when Mark is dancing Latin. Ha Cha Cha Cha Cha! Oh, but guess what, y'all? I'm watching Kristi, cause this swingy little Beach Blanket Bingo dress is as cute as it can be, and I promise you this - She looks more happy and more relaxed than she has all season long. And even though I want my Cristian to win, I LOVE Kristi in this dance!!

Loved the finale of this dance, especially the lift, but with the three of them side by side, I think Jason was the worst.

Oh, hold on - There are Scores!

Cristian - 26

Jason - 24 (There is no way that Jason was as good as Cristian, but Carrie Ann scored them both an 8. Biased much, Carrie Ann?)

Kristi - 30. I agree!

OOH, the Freestyle Round, and Kristi and Mark are up first. Oh. My Goodness. I think I may be a Kristi convert tonight! This routine is oh, so cute - a bit sloppy in places, but overall I loved it!

Scooter: Can you type my name in and say I said, "I like them," Okay?

SCORE: 30

Jason and Edyta's Freestyle is next, and he's got a big ol' beach ball. Edyta's wearing clothes, but of course they took 'em off ASAP. Hmmm...I don't know what to say. He had some good moves, and the lifts were absolutely great. Other than that...meh.

SCORE: 27 - Big Daddy thinks it's too low; I think it's too high.

Final Freestyle is Cristian and Cheryl. Still lovin' him. Their lifts and spins are MORE than phenomenal. I love that he's singing the song while he's dancing, and I'd just like to point out that that he's doing all this with one good arm.

Listen up, y'all. I can admit it when my favorites stink it up (Jason Castro/American Idol), but people, I think this performance was out of this world. I don't care if Jason Taylor did better lifts; Cristian and Cheryl had a better overall performance.

I like crusty old Len, but he's pissed me off now by simply comparing lifts instead of the entire performance. Jason Taylor did nothing great tonight but pick people up. Big Whoop.

Dang, I'm mad. Okay, Bruno? Yeah, Bruno doesn't want to get on my bad side; he's giving a better critique. Carrie Ann? Yeah, I don't know what she said. She's Paula tonight.

And my dadgum DVR cut off the scores, so I'm off to find out what happened next.

But let me tell ya this first - I'm okay with Kristi winning - although I still think she had an advantage over the others from the beginning. But if there's a second place, and Cristian's not in it, I'm gonna call someone a bad name.

American Idol Final 3 - May 13

THIS is American Idol. And I couldn't be less interested.

Y'all, I have watched every season since Season Two. And I have loved me some contestants and hated me some contestants. But this season? I've had my favorites, but I knew they wouldn't be Pop Music Icons, so I never expected them to make it through to the end. And they didn't. Actually, some of the first contestants eliminated were my favorites.

Like the stripper. See, I can't even remember the poor dude's name.

Carly had an incredible voice, but she dressed weird and screamed and grimaced too much. And come on, would you go on American Idol with a half-finished tattoo? I didn't buy that whole, "I haven't had time to finish it." Seriously. Do one square inch a week, and she could have had it finished between Hollywood and the regular season.

Moving on.

Brooke is a unique, quirky talent, but I'm not sure she could handle fame.

Jason - also unique, quirky, talented. But ditzy beyond belief.

So before we get to the performances tonight, I'll put it out there - I'm rooting for Syesha.

ROUND ONE

Oh my goodness, the mayor of Wherever, Utah has a handlebar mustache. And singing And So It Goes, here's Mr. David Archuleta.

Sounds like a lovely soloist from the Wherever Boys Choir.

Syesha is singing an Alisha Keys song. Pretty. And boring.

David Cook is singing The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. This should be interesting. Love the song and so far, love him singing it.

I'm surprised. Not at him; at me. I LOVED IT. No longer bored.

But why did they keep spotlighting that 50s lady with the long blonde bob standing up in the audience?

It's a mystery. Oh wait, she's the Stage Manager? How weird that they would keep shooting her.

ROUND TWO

Archuleta is singing With You by Chris Brown.

Horrible. Just horrible. Embarrassingly horrible.

Syesha - Fever. She's looking forward to singing with a chair? I'm a little afraid. And confused.

The performance is good, although for some reason it reminded me of a scene in Imitation of Life where Sarah Jane is performing a revolving, rocking something. You know?

Maybe not.

Oh, and the judges didn't like it.

David Cook - Something by Switchfoot. I know this song, but don't like it. And I like his version even less. He seems off to me, especially in the beginning...no, all the way through. And wow, that was short.

Yep, Randy said it was pitchy. And Paula made another suggestive comment.

ROUND THREE - Who chose these songs? I wasn't paying attention. Oh, the producers.

Archuleta - I don't even know the actual name of this song. Will you be shocked if I tell you I was bored?

I'm tellin' y'all, this may be my last post about American Idol this season. I'm just not feelin' it these days!

Syesha - Hit Me Up
I liked it. But Sandy from Grease called, and she wants her pants back.

David Cook - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing
I really like this song, but what a strange arrangement for The Rocker Dude. Strings? And then when he decided to really get down and dirty, it seemed to be pitchy.

Randy? What say you? "It was okay for me. Very predictable. Very predictable."
Paula and Simon absolutely loved it, though.
Big shocker.

Well, I don't care who goes home tomorrow.

Wait, maybe I do. Maybe I'd just like for Cook to go home just to shake people up a bit. Really, I'd just love for Syesha to stay, but I don't see that happening.

It's time to find out who stays and who goes on to the finals. I think they're all great, so I'll be a bit disappointed no matter who goes home tonight.

Oh boy, they've brought back the little Juniors! Love. Them! The little green couple are just adorable, and so precise!

I love the bro-mance going on between Cristian and Jason. But my boy Cristian needs to go ahead and take Jason out.

More Juniors! The little pink kiddos are great, but not as good as they were last time. I think the greens were better tonight.

Wait, we're not done with the Juniors - here are some bigger ones dancing the Pasa Doble. Is it tacky that I'm not paying attention to their names?

Is that why everyone stopped commenting? Because I'm tacky?

Anyway.

Juniors in Black are In.Credible. Ridiculously, freakishly, unbelievably incredible.

And with 10 minutes left in the show, we're finally getting to THE RESULTS, people.

Dancing With The Stars - May 12

They're down to the Final Four on DWTS, and I like every one of them! I'll admit, it's hard for me to base my opinion solely on "talent." Everything's personal with me. So, having said that, here are MY Top 4, in order.

Cristian DeLaFuente
Marissa Jaret Winokur
Jason Taylor
Kristy Yamaguchi

I really like all four, but I've believed from the beginning that Kristy's skating background gave her such an advantage, and I hate to see her walk away with the win. I'm glad to see the guys giving her a run for her money these past few weeks!

I'm predicting even before I see the show that Marissa will go home this week. And possibly Cristian next week. But who knows? The American public is oh, so fickle, aren't we?

Shall we get on with the show, then?

First up are Jason and Edyta, and it would appear that Edyta is wearing almost an entire dress. Will wonders never cease?

I thought their Fox Trot was beautiful, and I SO enjoy watching Jason glide around that dance floor!

Jason's second dance tonight is the Pasa Doble. As usual, I really enjoyed it.

Yeah, it looks like Edyta realized she had on some clothes and decided to get naked on top again. And her girls almost jumped right of what little top she's wearing.

And both my 7- and 8-year-old saw that lift, people. But apparently the judges didn't.

Tink: Carrie Ann Inaba always sees the lifts, and she didn't say a word about it this time! Maybe she just doesn't want to make them feel bad.

WOW, sweet Tony's teeth are blinding me tonight! He's reminding me of that episode of Friends where Ross' teeth glowed in the dark.

Also, you know I'm a Marissa fan but I just don't believe that they can't find more flattering dresses for her! My girl is thick, y'all, and looks like a sausage in this type of dress. A sausage with feathers on the bottom.

Anyway, the dance. Pretty, and very quick. But I think she may have missed a few steps. Bruno noticed, darn it!

Marissa's second dance is a Rumba tonight. I was a little bit bored. Oh, and Carrie Ann hated it, and got MAD at the other two judges for giving a good review. Wow.

Hey, I could watch Cristian in rehearsal for weeks. Rumpled is definitely a good look for him.

I don't mean to be cruel, but Cheryl's dress is gagging me, y'all. It's somehow reminding me of aluminum soda cans, especially at the top. Or maybe an art school project. Oh, and also I don't like this song. At all.

But Vote! For Cristian! That's my boy!

Cristian's doing the Samba next. Thanks, C, for leaving that shirt unbuttoned. And for the great hip action. I love it! The footwork was great, and did I mention the hips? Oh, okay.

WOW, is this Tango fast! It seems a little bit frantic to me. The footwork is very intricate at times, which is impressive. But overall, I'm not crazy about the performance.

But Y'ALL. Julianne and Apolo's dance with Rascal Flatts? Homey Gomey. That was the most beautiful thing! And her dress? Hubba hubba!

Okay, back to the checkbook.

And the results...Mario was eliminated tonight. And even though at this point it's sad for anyone to leave, I agree with the results.

Final Four, people. And can I tell you something? I don't like either of the Davids, and even though I like Jason, I don't think he should be the winner. That leaves Syesha, and she's been good but inconsistent.

I think for me, Carly was my pick to win it. OOPS.

You know what? Jason with his lackadaisical attitude is sort of getting on my nerves these day. He's been a favorite of mine all along, but I'm starting to think he's just so unprofessional, even to the point of disrespect.

I thought the performance was okay, but the judges pretty much hated it.

Ah, he's releasing a new album next week, which is why he's being featured on tonight's show, I guess. And p.s., he's old, huh?

Up first is Jason Castro, singing Forever in Blue Jeans. I may have mentioned that I really like me some Jason, but tonight I'm not into this performance.

Brooke White - I'm a Believer
Did you know Neil Diamond wrote this song? Didn't the Monkees record it? Yes, I'm old. Anyway, my sweet Brooke is stinking it up. In my opinion. There were some really great spots, though, but mostly...it stunk.

And there are the pinched lips.

David Archuleta - Sweet Caroline
Sort of like Brooke, there were great moments but weird ones, too. In his case, more great than weird, though. He actually looked enthusiastic for the first time in several weeks!

Syesha Mercado - Hello Again
Not a fan of the hair. Her voice sounds very pure and beautiful, but I'm not sure whether the song is spectacular. Tink liked it. Was she off for a minute at the key change? That was a key change, right?

Could I ask more questions tonight?

Okay, so feedback from the judges on everyone at once. I don't know what Randy said. Something like Castro, not so much; Cook, good; Brook, karaoke; Archuleta, the bomb, and Syesha, in the zone.

Now it's Paula's turn. She's giving Jason Castro feedback for two songs when he only sang one. This is crackin' me up, y'all. Ryan's lookin' off-stage like he wants someone to do something and Simon's just grinning into space. Randy tries to correct her and...WOW, is she HIGH!

Sounds off in the beginning, but I love his voice on this song. Except when it's pitchy, which unfortunately it is. UGH. Never mind. It's awful. What do I know?

David Cook - All I Really Need is You
Not feelin' it. I guess this is his style, and it's pretty contemporary, but it's not for me. Okay, wait, cause the second half is sorta growin' on me.

But also, his hair is growin' out again, and did I mention in the beginning that I hated it? Yeah, hatin' it again.

Brooke White - I Am I Said
STUPENDOUS. This song is perfect for Brooke. Love it. I adore her voice when she's singing the right song. Seriously, may I gush? Because Brooke+the right song is such magic that it confuses me when she DOESN'T choose the wrong song.

David Archuleta - America
My first thought was that this song would be too big for him. So far, yeah, sounds like a high school choir performance to me, with a couple of great bright notes thrown in.

I think he always looks so zoned out when he's listening to the judges. And, by the way, the judges loved the performance. Of course.

Syesha Mercado - I Thank The Lord For The Night Time
I enjoyed it, but I bet the judges won't.
Randy? In the Zone.
Paula? Theatrical...huh? I love her.
Simon? Actress/Singer. May be in trouble tonight.

Conclusions? I loved Brooke's second performance, thought Syesha did well, and I definitely think Jason Castro needs to go this week. Jason's my Texas boy, y'all, but his time has passed.

Wow, we're down to six tonight and I really like all of them, although some more than others.

Marissa and Tony Dovolani - Tango and Rumba
The Tango's first, and bless her little short stature! I liked it, but then I've been a fan of Marissa's from the beginning. That lean-ish thing they did was great, and she was as graceful as she could be. I think it's just hard to be sultry when you're 4 foot nothing.

Oh, Len said it was Her Best Dance! And Bruno liked it too.

Last they have their Rumba, and it's a little slow, isn't it? There were some really difficult moves too, though, and I think the judges liked it. Have I mentioned that I think Tony Dovolani is the sweetest man I've seen on this show?

Cristian and Cheryl Burke - Viennese Waltz and Samba
The Viennese Waltz is first. I love the color of her dress. And the song is distracting, cause it was a late-night pick-up number at a little bar I used to hang out at.

Oh, but the dance. Yeah, it was Cristian; of course I loved it!

SCORE: 25. Wah.

Oh, I'm so excited to see Cristian's Samba. But wait...I think I'm a bit disappointed because he's not shaking his bom bom as much as I'd like. Oh My, now he's hurt himself. Wah.

Back from commercial break, and my boy has got ice on his arm, and he's oh, so embarrassed.

Kristi and Mark Ballas - Viennese Waltz and Cha Cha
Viennese Waltz is first. They look absolutely gorgeous. Yeah, this is a 30 for sure. It's just breathtakingly beautiful.

WOW, Carrie Ann and Len didn't love it.

SCORE: 26. Is this the first week she's not been on top?

And what about their Cha Cha Cha? Go on now, Mark, with your spinning self! I'm tellin' y'all, sometimes with this couple I'm so busy watching him that I forget to look at Kristi.

Holy Smokes, people, I think I enjoyed that more than any dance Kristi's done all season.

And p.s., could Len and Bruno argue any more tonight?

And the Fox Trot is first. I thought it was great, my Pooh loved it.

First up is the Tango. LOVE her dress. I think the dance is a little robotic, but so is the music - maybe that's the way they intended it to be. Left me feeling a little weird.

Bruno said it was like a silent movie, and I agree. Carrie Ann said it was their best dance yet, and Len liked it too.

And onto their Mambo. Y'all, she's still not moving her dadgum hips. And she's gonna be surprised when the judges tell her so. Or maybe they'll just leave it alone this week. Plus and also, I like to have my music with a Latin flair when we're supposed to be doing a Mambo.

Hmm...Len and Bruno thought she really moved her tushy. I didn't see it.

Jason and Edyta Sleazinska - Quick Step and Pasa Doble
Quick Step is up first tonight, and I can't wait to see it! i still remember how great Emmitt Smith did it a couple seasons ago.

I enjoyed the dance; I'm amazed at how naturally Jason seems to dance. And I couldn't believe how covered Edyta was. Compared to her other wardrobe choices, I mean.

How about a Pasa Doble now? Crack me up with the NFL theme song and costumes. Well, it was different, I'll give 'em that. I just don't know what else to say.

This time she's standing on the piano? ...and now she's sitting on it ...and now she's off. Okay, look - I think she put too much energy into the gimmick and not enough into knocking the song out of the park. But that's just me.

The Judges loved it. See? I told you it was just me.

Jason Castro - Memories
Before he starts singing, I'm gonna go ahead and say that I am very concerned about his song choice. Yeah, it goes from boring to awful in my opinion. And I'm a Jason fan, but I'm jumpin' this sinking ship. I just hope he can squeak through to next week.

I can't stand Ryan Seacrest.

Brooke White - I don't know what this song is.
Good night, she screwed up and started over. I guess it's a good thing it's a fairly unknown song (at least to me). That way maybe she can get away with some mistakes.

Hey, Brooke's singing with the most power I've seen her throw out there in this competition; maybe that'll save her. Cause y'all know I love me some Brooke!

And p.s., someone give her a Botox injection before each show so she won't keep on doing those weird things with her lips while she listens to the judges and Stoopid Ryan.

Little Archuletta - Some song from Phantom.
I got nothin'. Randy and Paula loved it, and Simon thought it was forgettable.

Carly Smithson - Jesus Christ Superstar.
I think this IS the best performance tonight. She's throwing that big old voice out there, but doesn't seem as overly intense as she has in the past. Until the last note.

David Cook - The Music of the Night
All right, here's the deal. GREAT showcase for his voice. But it's very Opera/Broadway/classical, don't you think? Not very contemporary at all.

So let's recap. My fave of the night was Carly.

Who do I think will go home? Probably either Jason or Brooke. And I will wait patiently for them to release an album that I will promptly buy.

Dancing With The Stars - Week Six Results

Last night's show was really fun, y'all, and I won't be happy to see anyone go home this week.

The country group number is just so cute! And I still can't believe how well Marlee does without hearing the music. She's incredible.

Ashlee Simpson is performing tonight, and I could swear she didn't learn anything from her past lip synch mishaps. It's a cute song, though. She's just not singing it live, is all.

Hi, could Samantha Hostess' arms be any scrawnier?

First results - Shannon is safe and Marlee is not.

Riverdance - I think the dancing is incredible and takes a great deal of talent, but after awhile I'm yawning. Sorry.

I think these junior dancers are awesomely talented, and I'm glad that the judges only give them good feedback. Wow, the first little couple are great, especially the young man. Go Team Red!

Team Black/Aqua are dancing the Samba tonight. Little Man's footwork is incredible, an the shimmies are off the charts! Did he mean to fall in the end, though?

Two more couples who are safe - Marissa and Tony; Cristian and Cheryl. Yay, two of my favorites! At this point I predict that either Mario or Jason will be in the bottom 2.

Back from commercial break, and it's Mario in the bottom 2. I was afraid of that; I don't know if he really connects with the audience.

But it's Marlee going home this week. Wah.

It's Week 6 of Dancing With The Stars, y'all, and I have to warn you - I'm cranky. I just typed a great intro and lost it and I absolutely can't remember what I said.

I'll try to bring some sweetness and light to my review, but I can't promise anything.

Jason Taylor and Edyta Sleazinska - I love to watch this big hunk move! (I typed big hung first. tee hee.) Anyway, all I have to say is I loved it.

Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough - Do you think they might be hooking up?

They're doing the Rumba tonight, and I love that she's not dressed like a sleaze bag. WOW, look at those gams, y'all! I think she still needs to move her hips a bit more, though. Oh, and Bruno agrees with me.

Po' little Shannon, she gets really upset at the criticism. I think she must be a bit of a perfectionist.

Marlee Matlin and Fabian Sanchez - WOW, has Marlee got a flat tummy! And she's friends with Henry Winkler! And she loves blue eyeshadow!

I think she messed up quite a bit in the beginning, but do you think it got better in the second half?

Cristian de la Fuente and Cheryl Burke - Love me some Cristian. Love the face, love the sense of humor, love the accent! And look at his sweet little feet! And his pink shirt! And all my exclamation points!

Not crazy about the Bryl Cream hair, though. Just sayin'.

Smooth, baby, smooth! No, he did not just do high kicks. Homey Gomey!

Y'all, Len just said, "If you're in the bottom two tomorrow, I'll show my bum in the supermarket." I'm still giggling, after rewinding it 5 times.

We were hoping for a 30, but we'll take it.

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony Dovolani are doing the Viennese Waltz. My fingers are crossed for her.

I hate the music. Hate. It. Liked it when Tom Jones sang it, don't like this heavy, almost Spanish arrangement.

The dance was pretty, and I think Marissa looked beautiful.

Kristy Yamaguchi and Mark Ballas - Did you know she was born with club feet? WOW!

I gotta admit, I enjoyed Mark's dancing so much on this one that I kept forgetting to watch Kristy. Obviously she was good; what else do we expect?

Mario and Karina Smirnoff - Yeah, it was steamy. And I'm gonna go there - what the heck was she wearing?

SCORE: 28

Next we have a group number - this should be interesting! I guess I'd already stopped watching last season when (and if) they did a group number.

Y'all, I enjoyed that SO Much! Every single one of them did an excellent job!

And now that the show is over, it's time for our predictions. My favorite this week was Cristian, and I guess that Marlee and Shannon are in danger of going home. Wah.

It's the halfway point of the competition, y'all, and tonight they're doing the Samba and the Rumba. I'm not certain that I can tell the difference; we'll see.

Mario and Karina - Samba
Wow, could her spray-on be any darker tonight? And can someone seriously tell me why the costumes have to be so revealing? I know I'm showing my prudishness, but I don't understand the reason for it. Unless it's to show what a rockin' 6-pack she has.

And the dancing? I really enjoyed it. Mario reminds me of Ricky Ricardo tonight, for some reason. Is the Samba a Cuban dance?

Priscilla and Louis - Rumba
It cracks me up when they introduce her as "Actress and Businesswoman." It sounds kinda like, "Grammy Award Winner and Grocery Shopper!"

Priscilla's face looks prettier this week, although I'd like to see lighter eyes.

I thought the dance was VERY pretty, but it seemed so short! I wonder if the judges will think it was too simple.

Marissa and Tony - Samba (Oh, Tony says it's Brazilian.)
Marissa doesn't look nearly as chunky in her workout clothes as she does in her performance costumes. And have I mentioned that I L.O.V.E. Tony?

Girlfriend sure enough did shake her booty, didn't she? I loved it!

Christian and Cheryl - Rumba
Still hot. I love the color of his shirt and her dress, although I'd like to see more dress. Have I mentioned I may be prudish?

I could watch Christian walk up a flight of stairs and enjoy it, but it didn't seem like this dance was very complicated, AT ALL.

Marlee & Fabian - SambaI just can not get over her rhythm, when she can't hear - and has never heard - the music! Incredible.

The judges said that she stumbled a few times but let me tell you - I never saw it!

Kristy and Mark - Rumba
Her family is so cute in the taped piece!

Oh goodness, I love their lavender costumes, and the dance was pretty, but I'm not sure I saw sensual. The judges did, though.

Shannon & Derek - Samba
Derek went to the hospital with food poisoning? Goodness, this kid is falling apart, isn't he? It looks like the two of them are getting along Very Well in the taped piece, huh?

Not sure I'm crazy about their dance. She seems to be a little stiff. Len said there was no impact and not enough hip action. I Agree. I don't think the score will be very high this week.

Jason and Edyta - Rumba
My, but the girl's hips can move...oh goodness, and the boy's can, too!! Edyta had some great moves, but did Jason? The judges think so - GOOD!

The dancing's over for tonight, and now comes the hard part - who's going home this week? Priscilla has the lowest score, but that doesn't always matter, does it?

My favorites were Jason, Marissa and Christian. Cause I'm a sucker for hot men and chunky chicks.

American Idol - The Final 8

It's Inspirational Week on American Idol. I'll be interested to see what each contestant finds inspirational.

Michael Johns is singing some song that I recognize but don't know the origin of. Big Daddy thinks it was originally recorded by a Big Hair Band like Poison, and I think it was Queen. And it sounded like karaoke to me.

Oh, Randy said it was Aerosmith.

Hey, Sinbad's in the audience.

And Paula's breastesses are trying to escape that torture device of a dress.

Syesha is singing I Believe, which was originally recorded by Fantasia. It was a good performance, y'all, but I don't know if she brings anything unique to the party. Until she hit that glass-shattering high note; now that was unique.

Jason Castro is singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow, and he says it's a version done by a Hawaiian guy on a ukulele. And oh my goodness, Jason is actually playing a ukulele.

Okay, I like Jason, I really do. I even like the song. But I'm not in agreement with his choice tonight. It sounds like a movie soundtrack; specifically Pixar or Disney.

Wow, see how crazy I am? The judges loved it and I'm glad! Go Jason!

Up next is Kristy Lee Cook, and we're betting she's gonna sing something by Martina McBride. Oh my goodness, SHE IS! Let's see how she does.

I hate the way they have to chop these songs up to meet the time requirements. I think she started out rough, but kind of brought it home on the choruses. Do they still call them choruses, or are they bridges or something else totally?

Anyway, that top she wore was HOT.

Randy liked it aside from some pitch problems, and Paula thought it was her best performance. Simon thought she was very, very good indeed and that she looks like a star tonight. Do y'all think Kristy's on the way back?

David Cook is not impressing me tonight. At all. I don't know what he's singing and I don't really care. Something about We Are All Innocent. Randy and Simon agreed with me, and Paula loves him no matter what he does.

Carly Smithson is singing a Queen song tonight. And she apparently didn't listen to Simon's advice last week regarding clothing choices.

Pity.

She sure is strutting around that stage like a bad ass, though. Go on now, Carly. I think parts of the song were really good, but overall it just should have been better. There were too many background singers in places, and I couldn't distinguish her voice.

Hey, Simon likes her clothes! But he thinks it was an angry performance, that she over-sang the song and might be in trouble for it.

Archuleta's up next and he's singing a song called Angels. It was good. The judges loved it but David didn't seem very happy about that. He looks drugged a bit.

And Brooke's closing the show with some Carole King tonight. I love me some Brooke and I love me some Carole King.

Have I mentioned that I'm oh, so partial to Brooke's voice? Didja know that?

BUT. I'm not crazy about this arrangement. This seems like a song that would be great with her at the piano, and a less formal arrangement.

Also, I'm finding myself dreading the looks she gives the judges and that thing she does with her mouth when they criticize her. We'll see.

Well, that wasn't so bad, was it?

I honestly don't know. I don't think there were any standouts tonight, either best or worst. So we'll have to see how it goes tomorrow night.

It's the Pasa Doble and the Viennese Waltz on DWTS tonight, folks. We're joined in our commentary tonight by Miss Tinkerbell.

Kristy Yamaguchi's up first, dancing the Pasa Doble with Mark. I hate the music. Hate. It. The dance doesn't seem all that good to me, either. The spins are pretty, but I wonder if it's more the dress than anything. They seemed to fumble their hands a few times, too. I don't mean to be down on Kristy. I actually loved her performances the first two weeks, but last week and this, I haven't been all that thrilled.

Score: 29. Overblown much?

Next, "actress and businesswoman" Priscilla Presley is dancing the Viennese Waltz this week. It was a pretty dance, and she looks much better with more natural lipstick. And that's all I have to say about that.

Carrie Ann, however, is going on about lifts again. Oh, and Len agrees.

Backstage Announcer Girl says the judges were harsh. What planet is she from that she thinks that's harsh? They were almost apologetic in their criticism!

Adam Carolla is wearing the most ridiculous eyeliner moustache, which I guess means he's doing the Pasa Doble. Oh goodness gracious, he's riding a unicycle!

I don't know; didn't do much for me. And he looks ridiculous; he's got an orange spray tan and he looks like Greg Brady.

Marlee and Fabian are performing the Viennese Waltz this week. They're so cute with each other in the taped piece. And the dance is beautiful. I actually think Fabian stumbled a bit, though. Oh, p.s., I don't like that big old clump of crap pinned up in her hair.

Derek Hough was injured in a rehearsal last week, so I don't think they rehearsed together very much this week. He and Shannon Elizabeth are dancing the Viennese Waltz. It was very pretty.

That seems to be a common theme for me tonight - It was pretty.

Marissa Jaret Winokur and Tony are doing the Pasa Doble this week. I want so badly for her to do well, but Oh My Goodness, couldn't someone do a better job of dressing her?

I thought she did great tonight, but do you think maybe she keeps getting low scores from the judges because it's hard to look graceful when your legs are only 2 feet long?

I was bored tonight, y'all. I don't know who was the best, but my favorites are Tony, Christian and Marrissa. I'm rooting for Marrissa cause I think she's probably the underdog right now, with her little old legs.

Obviously, Adam Carrolla needs to go home this week. Besides being the worst dancer, he's also obnoxious.

American Idol - Who goes this week?

It's results time, people, so let's waste a lot of time getting there, shall we?

First of all, I like these Clark (?) Brothers, A LOT. I didn't watch the Greatest Band show that they won, but I will definitely be watching to see when they release an album.

Ramiele is the first one in the bottom three, followed by Kristy Lee. I think Kristy Lee has a real bad attitude about being in the bottom three every week. I know it's got to be discouraging, but she's awfully pessimistic about it.

Paula says that she thinks they both did great last week, but then who does she think did worse? Someone's got to go, and although they're good overall, these two girls have been the weakest from week to week.

Now we get a look at some former American Idol contestants. I never was a Bucky Covington fan, but definitely liked Phil Stacey and Bo Bice. I'm looking forward to checking out Phil's album when it's released.

On to this season's contestants: who's the final person in the Bottom Three? It's Brooke. Simon thinks that they're the right ones to be in the BT, but I don't. I don't think Jason or Syesha are better than Brooke. But I'll shut up.

For a minute.

Until Ramiele goes home. And then I'll say this: It was the right decision. I thought she was FABULOUS in the auditions and Hollywood, but I think she's been sort of sick for weeks and never blew it out of the park.

American Idol - April Fool's Day!

It's Dolly Parton night on American Idol, y'all. I just love Dolly Parton - ain't she cute?

And speaking of cute, we'll be joined by Miss Tinkerbell in tonight's review.

P.S. Do you think anyone in America was fooled by Ryan's little joke? Not in this house, punk.

Brooke White is singing Jolene, and I think it's a perfect song for her. I think some people don't like Brooke because she's not flashy and doesn't always go for the BIG MOMENT, but I think she's classically wonderful, like Carole King or Carly Simon. She has a hard time taking criticism, but she's not a bad sport about it like some people are.

David Cook's next with Little Sparrow. In case you're keeping score, I like his hair a bit more this week. His voice is growing on me, too. I'm still not over the judges' criticism of Brooke, so I honestly didn't pay much attention.

Ramiele Malubay is performing some song I don't know, and it's not very impressive. In fact, some parts of it are downright painful. I'm confused about the judges' middle-of-the-road comments, because I thought the first half was AWFUL.

Jason Castro - Travelin' Through. He's another one that's not DAZZLINGLY SPECTACULAR, but solidly good. I enjoyed his performance.

Tink: Hmm. Not that much.

Carly Smithson - Here You Come Again. Brilliant. Love it. And if the judges don't, they can shove it.

Simon is EXTREMELY unpleasant tonight. I'm not ordinarily a basher, but tonight - UGH.

David Archuleta is singing Smoky Mountain Memories. I thought it was average. Of course, the judges love him.

Tink: The way he was making that face with his eyes, I didn't like.

Kristy Lee Cook's doing The Coat Of Many Colors, and I thought she did a fair job. Sounded like her pitch was off a few times, though.

Syesha Mercado's performing my favorite Dolly song tonight - I Will Always Love You. Not a fan of the hair, Syesha. But I enjoyed her performance of this song. I like Whitney's version, but I'm a purist and have always LOVED Dolly's original. Syesha did a little bit of both, and I think I agree with Simon on this one, that the second half, the "Whitney" half, wasn't that good.

Tink: The way she ended it wasn't the way I wanted it, but most of it was good.

Michael Johns - This guy is too whiny/growly for me tonight, with the pained/ISmellSomethingBad expression on his face. Overdone.

It's that time again, folks - time to watch those Stars Dance!

Up first tonight are Marlee and Fabian, dancing the Jive. She looks oh, so cute tonight!

As an aside: Here's a good example of why I don't like the house band. I rarely like hearing a song from anyone other than the original artist, unless I'm sitting in a bar.

I think the dance was good but not as good as in the past. The judges were a little bit more critical than they've been before, too.

Up next Steve and Anna, doing the Tango. Steve was hilarious rehearsing with Anna's husband in the taped piece!

I love Steve Guttenberg, but unfortunately, I don't think he's very long for this competition. I thought he was still walking through it, and what was his chin doing all jutted out like that? The judges thought he was much improved. YAY!

Film and TV Star Christian (with Cheryl) is doing the Jive tonight. Usually I don't really care how he dances because he's just so dang HOTT, but tonight I'm really enjoying the dance, too! GREAT!

Mario and Karina danced the Tango. Holy moley, is the band performing Roxanne to a tango beat? UGH. I didn't really pay attention to the dance; I was distracted by Karina's boots and the weird song.

Len didn't like it, Carrie Ann agrees, and Bruno doesn't think it was that bad.

Score: 21

Film and Television Star Shannon (and Derek) are performing the Jive this week. Big Daddy's unable to do anything more than stare at her legs. I on the other hand, love her dress, eyes, lipstick and headband thingie. Not all that crazy about the dance, though. Sorry. I'm glad the judges disagreed with me, though, cause I really like Shannon.

Score: 24

Next are Adam and Julianne and WOW, get a load of her wig and makeup! She looks great, doesn't she? Kind of like a young Priscilla Presley! Hey, his jaw is all wamper-jawed like Steve's was! I guess it's a Tango thing. Overall, I think he did a good job. And my lands, Carrie Ann thought he looked sexy!

Must! Stop! With! The Exclamation Points!

Marisa and Tony are doing the Jive tonight, and I think Tony ROCKS! I thought the dance was good, but like Len said, it was careful. You can tell that Marisa's disappointed at the judges' feedback. Do you think they might be holding her to a higher standard because of her Broadway background?

Or maybe I'm just biased in her favor cause she's a chunky girl.

Score: OOH, it's a 19. I think that's a bit harsh.

Priscilla and Louie are performing a steamy Tango next. I'll tell ya this; other than the steam, I don't think it's any better than Marisa's Jive. But the judges, they LOVE the older women on this show (remember Jane and Marie!), and they loved this one too. I'm not saying it wasn't good, but it wasn't THAT much better than Marisa.

Score: A ridiculous 26. I don't agree; do you?

Jason and Edyta attack the Jive this week. Man, this guy has a natural move to him that works with almost any dance he does. I don't know whether he's got the steps right or the technical aspects, but I know he's fun to watch.

Score: 23

Last this week are Kristi and Mark dancing the Tango. Got a little bit of makeup on there, Kristi? I don't think the performance is as good as past performances, but it was nice.

Score: 27 (I think that's overblown)

So, who's going home this week? I don't really think anyone sucked tonight. Low score was Marisa, and I definitely don't think she was the worst. Since someone's got to go, I guess I'm thinking Adam.

Hey, Kimberly Locke. I really like her, and she seems to be one of the most consistently successful former contestants, at least of those who didn't place in the Top 2.

Idol Gives Back, etcetera, etcetera.

Finally, back to the results. And Ramiele is safe - I'm VERY surprised. So it's down to Jason or Kristy Lee Cook. And Jason goes down to the Bottom Three.

ACK. Right now I wouldn't want to see any of these three go. My opinion is that Ramiele should have gone home tonight.

Jason's safe, so that means it's Chikezie or Syesha, and did I already say I don't want either of them to go? But since one of them has to, I guess I'd like it to be Chikezie.

American Idol - March 25

Okay people, it's 11:40 pm and we're just now starting to watch the show. So. Please keep that in mind when you're reading my review. When I'm tired, sweetness is sometimes the first to go.

Oh, and thanks, American Idol, for making me feel 93 years old by having most of these kids sing songs that were released after I graduated high school.

Ramiele Malubay - What in the Sam Hill is she wearing? And also, even though her voice is big enough for this song, she seemed to be off key the entire time. Surprisingly, Simon liked it!

Jason Castro - I really like Jason, but I'm not feeling this song. At all. I can hear the backup singers almost more than him. Plus, have you ever noticed the weird things he does with his mouth when he's singing?

Syesha Mercado - It's pretty. I like it. I'm so glad that she finally, as Paula said, "flipped it."

Speaking of Paula, what's up with the leather gloves and faux diamonds? I like that 80s thing, but don't think it goes with that delicate top.

Hey, everyone else is doin' it; I may as well start doing fashion commentary, too. Except mine isn't "I Think I'm Cool Fashion Commentary." It's "Get A Load Of My Whack Fashion Views That Couldn't Be Further From Current Trends."

It'll be fun.

Okay, let's get back to the singing.

Chikezie - I liked his performance. Just like with Jason, seemed like the backup singers were too loud in places. Other than that, it was good for me. Randy didn't love it for him, because it was old school.

What's wrong with old school, DAWG?

Brooke White - Wow, her parents look young! She had a false little start there, but now it's sounding better. Gosh, I just love Brooke's voice. I would probably buy anything she recorded, as long as it wasn't thrash metal or something weird like that.

As if I know what thrash metal is.

Okay, overall I guess it was a boring performance but have I mentioned that I love her voice?

Michael Johns is, I think, the oldest contestant on the show. He's doing We Will Rock You, which is more yelling than singing. Now that he's going into We Are The Champions, I'm enjoying it...except for the backup singers. What's up with them tonight? Or is the sound guy who's the problem? Ugh...now the end is not as good as the beginning.

The judges think Michael got it right.

Carly Smithson - Also love her voice. Liked everything but that last run. WOW, Randy thought it was just OK.

I think he's on crack. He said he didn't like "the whole rock thing." I agree with him about the last run, but the rest was great.

I'm so surprised that Simon didn't like it much, either.

David Archuleta - His performance seemed very inconsistent to me. I heard some great sounds, and then some sections were very off or just bland.

Kristy Lee Cook is up. I read today that in 2000, she was signed with Britney Spears' label or management group or whatever and Britney was supposed to be her mentor.

Yeah, how'd that work out for ya?

Singing God Bless The USA? Let's see how this goes...I bet the judges hate it. For me it was good in places, pitchy in others. Hey, Randy agrees with me, and so does Simon! Wow, y'all, I am really surprised, because I thought the song would be too corny for these jaded judges!

Coming out last tonight is David Cook. Hair check...yep, I still hate it. A lot. I like the song arrangement, though. And the judges thought it was amazing.

So what's gonna happen this week, y'all? I don't think I can pick a favorite, but I'll tell ya - I think either Ramiele or Jason's gonna be doing the walk of shame tomorrow.

Dancing With The Stars Results Show

Dear ABC:

Scheduling a Recap Show, to give me "one more chance to see the Stars' first two dances," does not get me to tune in to ABC for an extra hour. It does, however, screw up my DVR so that I only see the last 20 minutes of the results show. And the Recap? I deleted it after the first 48 seconds.

Now on to the results that I DID see.

Oh. So Penn and Monica are gone, and I agree completely. They both tried hard and were enthusiastic, but were definitely the worst.

Dancing With The Stars - March 24

Hey, Guys! Here we are with the beginning of another great week of reality programming. Let's start it off with Dancing With The Stars and cruise on into American Idol tomorrow night.

And off we go...

Steve Guttenberg - I'll start by saying that I really like Steve. A lot. But bless his heart, as much as he wants to do this and do it good, the judges don't like his performance. Me? I thought he danced well, but the choreography seemed VERY easy.

Score: I don't know, I was multi-tasking.

Christian de la Something - Ha cha cha cha cha. He's still a hot tamale, but his performance wasn't that great.

Score: Still multi-tasking.

Monica Selles - I have some mixed feelings about this performance. Part of the time there's so much more personality, and others she still seems to be walking through it. Wow, Bruno sort of says the same thing; on again, off again.

Score: 15

Penn Gillette - I thought he did much better than last week. Seems like sometimes his steps look awkward just because he's trying to stay in sync with her and he's so tall. My main gripe with Penn is that when the judges are giving their feedback, he's talking back the whole time. I hate that.

Score: 17 Shut up, Penn.

Priscilla Presley - I'm not going to say anything about her plastic surgery this week. I might, however, mention that I wish she wouldn't wear such dark eye makeup. I read somewhere that's the way Elvis liked it, but I think it's time she moved on to something more flattering. And speaking of flattering, the dress is not.

I wasn't all that impressed with the performance, either. The judges liked it, though. Shades of Jane Seymour and Marie Osmond?

Score: 21

Shannon Elizabeth - She looks so pretty tonight, and even though I wasn't crazy about the silver dress to begin with, once she started moving it was gorgeous! I'm kind of like Paula on American Idol tonight, "First of all, you look gorgeous!"

I loved the performance, and Len said it's the best dance so far tonight!

Score: 24

Jason Taylor - You know, he's almost as big as Penn, isn't he, but he doesn't have a problem looking good. Did I say good? I mean GREAT! The judges think so, too.

Score: 27

Marissa Jaret Winokur - I loved Tony in the taped piece - so encouraging when she was feeling discouraged. And I loved their performance! The judges all thought they were much improved over last week.

Score: 21

Adam Carrolla looks great in his taped piece - I hope he does that good live! Hmm...not so much. He seems a lot stiffer than he did in rehearsal. Maybe they should let him perform in sweats.

Hey, did y'all know the Jonas Brothers are performing on tomorrow night's results show? Who could miss the 147 mentions of said performance? Enough already.

Score: 19

Marlee Matlin - I'm speechless. She can't hear the music, y'all. And she was only looking at her partner some of the time. Yet she was on beat almost the entire time. And beautiful, by the way.
Score: 24!

Kristi Yamaguchi - Well. Didn't like the dress, DID like the dance. Was it a mambo, though? Judges loved it!

Score: 27

Mario - I thought it was good, but it sure did seem short to me.

Score: 26

My favorites tonight? Well, I need to tell you that I usually root for the underdogs, so my favorites were the obvious, Kristi and Marlee, and then I'm also rooting for Marissa and Steve.

Who should go home? Probably Monica and Penn, or maybe Carrolla.

American Idol Top 10 Results

Tonight we find out who's in the Top 10, which means they make the American Idol National Tour.

Do y'all watch the group numbers at the beginning of the show? I usually fast forward through, but the parts that I caught tonight were just painful! At one spot, Brooke and Ramiele were supposedly singing, except that I could only hear Brooke. I mean it, they didn't even have Ramiele's mike on, and Amanda was so obviously fake singing that it was ridiculous.

Anyway.

I can not believe that Carly Smithson is in the Bottom 3 tonight. They just cut to a shot of her and I can tell that she can't believe it, either. She's got to know that she belongs in the Top 3, not the bottom.

I can, however, believe that Kristy Lee Cook is in the Bottom 3. Sorry, Kristy, but it's true.

Now they're doing this silly Fan Question segment, which I hear is taped in advance. It's also stupid, in my opinion.

Again, I am sick of The Ryan Cuts On Simon Show. It drives me crazy. Randy and Paula do it too, but Ryan's ridiculous.

Kellie Pickler's performing tonight and I really like this girl! Cute song.

Wow, this show is long tonight!

Amanda completes the Bottom 3, and you know that I hope she's the one going home. Things don't always (or even often) go the way I think they will, so we'll see.

Please be advised that Big Daddy says if Carly goes home, he won't be watching any more.

Thank goodness Carly's safe, and WOW, even Kristy Lee's staying another week. Amanda's going home this week, guys. Sorry if you're a fan, but I'm not. I think she may have had talent, but it was almost obscured by that hair, that makeup and those ridiculous clothes, not to mention the yelling.

Dancing With The Stars - Ladies' Night

It's time for the ladies tonight, y'all, and I can't wait to see what they bring!

Let me say before we start, though, that I think that my commentary, reviews, whatever you wanna call 'em, will probably be changing a little bit. Listen, I'm not a dance professional or voice critic. I'm just a Texan Mom who knows what she likes. I think I may have been trying too hard on both my American Idol and DWTS posts to sound like I know what I'm talking about - and I don't.

I'm glad we got that out of the way.

Now, on with the show.

First up is Shannon Elizabeth. I knew I'd seen her on a couple of celebrity poker shows, but I didn't know she played competitively! As far as dancing, I don't see much energy in it. It's like she's walking through the thing. Doesn't help me much that I've never heard this song and it doesn't seem like Cha Cha music to me.

The judges disagree with me, and the score is 21.

Oh my goodness, y'all. We're watching this show live and it's killing me to have to sit through the commercials. We almost never watch anything live; it's all DVR, all the time over here these days.

Okay, now we're on to Monica Seles. Bless her heart, she seems so very awkward in the taped intro. But her pink dress is very pretty, and she seems a bit smoother in the live performance. Okay, so there are a couple awkward spots, but still...this is so contrary to anything she's ever done, and I'm impressed with her courage.

Score? 15. Wow, that's worse than I thought it would be.

You know what? I know it's after 8:00, but it ticks me off that I've got my kids in here watching a dance show, and on one commercial break I have to hear someone say "Can I touch your boob?" and see a promo for a news show on prostitution. Nice.

Marissa Jaret Winokur is dancing with Tony Dovolani. Wowza! I really like this girl - she's got so energy and confidence for a short, not so thin girl. Love her. Aw, look at her move those little stubby legs! And excuse me, but Dovolani? Holey Moley, can this guy move. I've got to tell the truth - I'm having trouble keeping my eyes on Marissa. I did love the performance, though.

Can't understand a word that Bruno says, but I think Len likes her. Their score is 18.

Y'all, I am not trying to be tacky when I say...however old or raggedy that Priscilla Presley thought she looked before she had plastic surgery, it couldn't be as bad as she looks now. Her face is just so artificial and weird looking to me, and she doesn't show much emotion at all. I wonder if she's even able to smile? Oh, there was a laugh! What a relief. I'm very interested to see how she dances.

Here we go. Their dance is okay, but you really can't see her legs most of the time, so who knows? The death spin, or whatever it's called, was good.

Hey Lisa Marie, in the audience! Now there's beautiful. Bruno thinks Priscilla has star quality. Their score? 24. Wow. They shut me up.

Let's move on.

I think Kristi Yamaguchi might have an advantage, at least when it comes to choreography and learning steps. We'll see. First of all, she's gorgeous and I love the color of her dress and the gloves. It's a beautiful dance, is all I know. They are in such unison. I Love It.

The judges agree with me and the score is 27!

Here comes Marlee Matlin, and I am so excited for her! No, she did not just grab his butt inn the taped piece! She's cracking me up already, and I really like Fabian Sanchez so far.

And I absolutely loved their performance! And the judges give them a 22.

Technically I'm liking Kristi and emotionally I like Marissa and Marlee. I guess no one's going home this week, so we'll see you again next week for the first elimination.

American idol - McCartney and Lennon, Part 2

Did we really need another night of Lennon and McCartney? Well, as Simon would say, "Off you go." Let's get right to it.

Amanda Overmyer - Still not a fan. Still don't get it. What else can I say? But oh, my goodness, she actually talks! And I like what she has to say, even if I don't like her performance.

Kristy Lee Cook is singing some song I never heard, and I'm bored. Oh, wait, I have heard it, but I'm still bored.

David Archuleta sings The Long and Winding Road tonight. You know what, I read somewhere that he has a whacked out stage dad who was banned from the studio when David did Star Search. Poor kid; what a lot of pressure! His performance is fine; nothing special to me. Randy thinks that he's hot, though, Paula...who knows? And Simon thinks that he's amazing. For the record, Big Daddy agrees with the judges.

Michael Johns is up next, folks. I think I'm getting old, y'all, cause I don't really care for this guy either. He's singing Day in the Life tonight, which is a song I like, but he sounds off to me. I'm not feeling it. In fact, I think it was awful. Randy sort of agreed with me, Paula babbled, and Simon thought it was a mess.

Here comes Brooke White - I Love this girl's voice, y'all! Tonight she's singing Here Comes The Sun. Unfortunately, she is a little awkward standing in front of the mike stand, though. For a minute there she looked like Elaine Benes dancing. Randy didn't like it, and Paula smiles and likes the yellow. Simon thought it was terrible...wah. Oh, and then Brooke wants to talk it over with the judges...just hush, girl, and bring it back next week.

Moving on.

We've got David Cook next, singing Day Tripper. Have I told y'all that I played this song in marching band in high school? Yeah. We rocked out.

Let me tell you - I'm a very shallow and judgmental person sometimes, and I can not stand this guy's hair. It totally ruins him for me.

Having said that, I do like this performance. A lot. Wait...did he just do a Frampton thing on that other mike? Hmm.

Carly Smithson is next, and she's doing Blackbird. Not sure if I know this song...yeah, I guess I do. I love Carly's voice too, and tonight she looks so pretty! Big Daddy doesn't like her shirt, but what does he know; he wears Big Daddy T-Shirts and tennis shoes 50% of the time. Randy and Paula liked her performance and Simon thought it was indulgent, whatever that means.

Let's hear Jason Castro, our Texas boy. He's cute, but I bet if you took those dreads off he'd be a geek. Maybe not, though, cause he sure is cute. Anyway, he's singing Michelle tonight, and although I enjoy hearing him sing, I don't think it's all that spectacular.

Syesha Mercado is singing Yesterday. She had a couple of stand-out parts, but other than that it's pretty forgettable for me. I'm glad the judges disagree with me, because I think that overall Syesha's a great singer.

Chikezie's up next, and he's doing I've Just Seen A face. I'm just gonna have to say that I have no idea whether I like this performance or not. No, that's not true. I like it, but I don't know whether the judges will or not. Randy's 50/50; Paula thinks he's showing who is and the depth of his vocals; Simon thought the harmonica was atrocious.

The final performance is Ramiele Malubay. Tonight she's singing I Should Have Known Better, trying to make the judges smile. I'm sorry to say that it's just a'ight for me and pitchy in places. Wah. I also agree with Simon that the arrangement sounded amateurish. Not much depth there.

So my favorite? I don't think I have one; nobody really knocked my socks off tonight. Who's going home? Hopefully Amanda or maybe Kristy Lee or Jason.

Dancing With The Stars - The New Season!

It's time for another season of Dancing With The Stars, y'all, and this time I'm gonna try to stick it out through the entire season. Last time I sort of lost interest but hopefully that won't be the case this time.

Penn Gillette's up first with Kim somebody and the first thing I've gotta say is that he's better looking than I realized. I'm not saying he's hot, but I guess I always saw him as a big ol' geek, and in his rehearsal clothes he looks like a real fun guy.

On to the dancing. Y'all, I don't know if it's possible for a guy that big to be good technically, but he just looks so fun out there! I am lovin' it. I would love to see him in some more flattering clothes, though. The judges think he's entertaining but needs to work on his footwork.

Also Penn? Please stop with the wisecracks or I'll take back all the nice things I said about ya. Thanks.

Score? Oh my goodness, just a 16.

Jason Taylor and Edita doing the Fox Trot. Aw, he's good! His feet may not be light enough, but y'all, I really love to watch the men on this show, since ballroom dance is probably the last thing they ever thought they'd be doing!

Len think he did a great job, but maybe needs to put more acting into it. Carrie Ann thinks his hands were great, and Bruno thinks he was graceful but needs more heat.

The judges' scores: 22!

Christian de la Fuente is a big old Hot Tamale. He's dancing with Cheryl Burke, who's won DWTS championships, and they're doing the Cha Cha Cha.

DISCLAIMER: I believe my judgement may be clouded, which is the reason why I have no idea what the judges said. Look! At his pretty smile!

But the score? Oh, it's a 21!

Now we're on to Adam Corolla and Julianne Hough doing the Fox Trot. Wow, Adam has aged a bit, hasn't he? Oh my, and Julianne is only 19? How old was she the first time she won, for goodness sakes? Oh, I love this dance. Adam's good, people!

The judges think he's got good footwork, but lots of work to do.

The score? 15. Now friends, that's just sad, because I think he was definitely better than Penn!

R & B Star Mario and Karina Smirnoff. Let me just say I never heard of this kid but hopefully he can dance. I love this pale aqua color they're wearing! He's moving his hips good, I think, and his feet look good too, to this unsophisticated Texas girl.

The judges mostly agreed with me, and the score? WOW...a 24!

I like Steve Guttenberg, y'all, and I hope he's a good dancer. Hmmm...not so much. I even saw him counting one time. He's cute, though.

Let's find out what the judges have to say. Bruno wants to see more drive, Carrie Ann thinks he's adorable, and Len thinks he looks like he's enjoying himself, but needs to work on technique. Yay, I'm glad they didn't tear him up!

Steve and Anna's Score: 18.

American Idol Top 12 - Results Show

My goodness, is this show really gonna be 2 hours tonight? Ladies and Gentlemen, we will be using the fast forward liberally tonight.

First contestant in the Bottom 3 is Syesha. I think that's reasonable; her performance last night wasn't anything special. Ryan asks Randy and Paula if Syesha should go home and they say No. He changes the question for Simon and asks if Syesha should be in the bottom 3, so Simon has to be the bad guy and say Yes.

The next contestant in the bottom 3 is Kristy Lee Cook. She took the wind out of Ryan's sails when she said "Just give me the mike," before he could do his dramatic schtick.

Sorry I'm a Ryan Hater tonight y'all, but I am really tired of the Ryan vs. Simon Show. He keeps saying that Simon told Kristy to sing country, but dadgummit, Simon didn't arrange that song, and the arrangement was way too hillbilly! Drop it, Seacrest!

Last person in the Bottom 3 is...duh duh DUHM...David Hernandez. Wah. I don't disagree with the decision, cause his performance wasn't very good last night. I DO hope he stays, though. He's got a GREAT voice when he chooses the right song.

Oh, and David goes home. Wah again. Just shows you what a HUGE difference song selection makes. He's peformed so much better in past weeks, but this week...meh.

Do you think the stripper business had anything to do with his departure? I hope not; didn't make a difference to me.

Oh, and my DVR must have been wrong, because Thank Goodness the show really wasn't 2 hours. I've got about 4 more shows to watch tonight, so peace out, y'all.

American Idol Top 12

We're finally down to American idol's Top 12, y'all. It's time to get serious. They're singing Lennon/McCartney songs, which seems sort of difficult to me, so we'll see how the night goes.

Simon seems cranky tonight; I hope he shapes up quick.

Syesha is first tonight, singing Got To Get You Into My Life. She does a fine job, but it's Theme Park/Cruise Ship to me. Ironically, Randy and Paula think it's all right and Simon thinks it's "better than all right." I guess it'll depend on how the rest do...

Chikezie's doing She's a Woman. Do I know this song? Oh my...he's using a blue grass arrangement? Oh, but then it sort of goes southern rock. His performance is good, but I'm not sure what the judges will say. Randy said Chikezie smashed it! Paula and Simon agree, too.

Ramiele Malubay is trying In My Life. She's got such a pretty voice but I don't think she's doing enough with this song. Randy thought it was boring...I was afraid of that. Paula thinks she looks lovely tonight and that it was a safe performance. Simon was bored to tears.

Here comes Jason Castro performing If I Fell. I love that he and Brooke White are breaking out of the mold this season and singing more acoustic, folksy, ORIGINAL arrangements. Randy liked it, didn't love it but Paula disagreed with him. Unfortunately, I didn't understand why she disagreed with him. Simon - boring - I'm not surprised.

Carly Smithson sings Come Together every Saturday night at her bar job. Let's see how she does on American Idol. Holy smokes, I think she owned it. The audience agrees with me. Judges? "Stellar Performance."

Let's listen to David Cook from Oklahoma sing Eleanor Rigby. I'm not being mean when I say that I wish a stylist would get hold of this guy's hair. Hold on, I think they may have chopped a centimeter or two off; maybe they can just do a tiny bit each week. Okay, so the song...I didn't really like it starting out, but it sort of grew on me.

Big Daddy thinks it's too predictable for David. The audience loved it, though. Randy thought it started out rough but then rocked. Paula thinks he's a thoroughbred. Simon thinks it's brilliant, and that David could win the entire show if it's judged by talent alone.

Next up is Brooke White, who is my favorite so far this season. Whatcha got, Brooke? She's singing Let It Be, and I just absolutely love this girls' voice. Love. Her. She seems a little uncomfortable singing to the camera while she's playing the piano, but I don't think it's a big deal. The judges were sort of ambivalent about it...except for Simon, who thought it was one of the best of the night, and a brilliant choice of song. Go Simon! Go Brooke!

David Hernandez is also one of my favorites. Tonight he's singing I Saw Her Standing There...ooh, I hope it's not too cliche. Not off to a good start, in my opinion...well maybe...no, not so much. Wah. Judges didn't like it either. I hope he gets through to try again next week.

Amanda Overmyer is such a pretty girl under that hair and costume. I just realized she reminds me of my cousin...if my cousin dressed up as a rocker for Halloween. She's singing You Can't Do That (Not my cousin - Amanda!). I'm still not a fan, but Randy and Paula liked it. Simon said he couldn't understand most of the words, and Paula actually said, "That's why we like her." WHAT?! We like her because we can't understand her? I don't know if I'm un-hip or what, but holey moley, I still don't get it.

So let's move on. To Michael Johns, who's doing Across The Universe tonight. It's okay. Randy thought it was a little sleepy (?) and Paula disagreed with him. Simon agreed with Randy, and he's frustrated because he thinks Michael is capable of more.

Kristy Lee Cook is singing 8 Days a Week with a country arrangement. I like it, but it's not spectacular. Randy said there were some parts about it he liked, but wasn't sure about the vocals. Paula didn't enjoy it, didn't get it. Simon thought it was horrendous, like Dolly Parton on helium. OUCH.

Ryan's blaming Simon for the arrangement, since Simon told Kristy she sounded best doing country. But this arrangement wasn't just country, it was hillbilly, and that's the problem, in my opinion.

We're finishing out the night with David Archuleta, who's singing We Can Work It Out. In his taped piece, he was very nervous. OOPS, did he forget his words? Looks like the Wonder Kid is having an off night. I do think he's very talented in general, but tonight the playing field is a bit more level, I guess.

Didn't work for Randy, Paula is encouraging as usual, and Simon says it's a mess.

So for tonight? My favorites are Carly and Brooke, with maybe a little Jason thrown in. Going home? Seriously, could be any one of about 5. Ramiele, Amanda, Syesha, Kristy Lee, even Hernandez.

American Idol Top 8 Girls/Guys Results

What do I think about tonight...well, there are some people I don't like, but it's more a personal preference than a talent thing, I think.

For example, don't like Michael Johns, but I know everyone else does. And he makes it through.

I like Luke Menard, but America doesn't. I know he wasn't the very best, but he was just so likable. Watching the farewell tapes reminds me of HIS very best, and it's sad.

Sometimes I liked Kady Malloy and sometimes I didn't, but ditto on the farewell tape. The girl was good! Not to mention Drop Dead Gorgeous!

I'm not a fan of Amanda; I don't think she's authentic. It's like she's in a movie about a rocker chick. Her singing, her dancing, we've seen and heard it all before. But she's through to the Top Twelve.

And Asia'h, who is unique and talented, is gone.

One decision I agreed with tonight, One Million Percent, is Danny going home. But poor Ramiele and even Paula were inconsolably distraught. The group this season is definitely emotional!

It's the last 8 girls tonight, y'all, and if it's okay with you I'll get right to it.

Asia'h Epperson sings I Wanna Dance With Somebody. EH...

Big Daddy and Tink liked it. Randy and Paula liked it. I'm ambivalent, but I may just be tired.

Kady Malloy is singing a song I don't know. And I'm unimpressed.

Randy thinks it's all right, and Paula thinks it's her best performance to date. Simon is still having issues with her "massive lack of personality."

Amanda Overmyer looks great wearing a do-rag in her taped piece, much better than when her Lily Munster hair is showing. I guess the song's all right, but the Steven Tyler scarf is killing me. And she did just a little bit of a Mick Jagger rooster walk. I think that's my problem with this chick - everything seems like an act with her.

The judges all thought she was fantastic, so I guess Amanda's around for another week, at least.

I don't know the song that Carly Smithson's singing, either...wait, maybe I do...either way, she's singing it great. I don't think her pants are very flattering but I love her hair and lipstick. The hair rocks.

Randy says it's "another great performance," and Paula says "you are like a dependable dog." Whatever that means. Simon thinks she's a thousand times better than the song she chose, and of course he can't finish talking because everyone's booing him and Ryan's talking over him.

Am I the only one who's getting sick of this schtick? The whole Simon bad, Ryan superior, Paula and Randy good triangle? Sick of it. Change it up a bit, y'all. We're not all Jerry Springer fans out here.

And now I'll get off my soapbox and listen to Kristy Lee Cook. Singing one of my favorite songs ever - Faithfully from Journey. Sounds almost country...bluesy...sort of like Bonnie Raitt. Big Daddy thinks the song's not for her, but I think it's interesting. The end was rough, though.

Randy thought it had a country lilt and "actually liked it." Paula completely agrees. Simon still thinks her problem is that she's forgettable.

Ramiele Malubay - Take A Look At Me Now - In my opinion, this is her worst performance to date, and she's been one of my favorites.

Randy thinks it's a pretty good vocal but wishes she was more confident. Paula rambles. Simon thought it was very old-fashioned and a bit predictable.

Brooke White - Love is a Battlefield is a interesting choice for her; let's see how it goes. I Love Her Voice, and the arrangement is very unique. So far, so good. OOh, I like it. This girl is Number One, without a doubt.

Randy liked it BUT...I don't know what his problem was. The judges seem awfully distracted - even ADHD tonight. Paula thought Brooke should have incorporated the band more, and I think Paula is full of crap. Just a guitar and her voice was MAGIC. Simon? That's right...he agrees with me, and thinks it's a great performance.

Syesha Mercado brings us Saving All My Love For You, and does a pretty good job of it, I think. I liked Syesha in the first auditions, but haven't really enjoyed any of her performances in this round until now. The judges all say it's good and don't have much else to say, other than that she should make it into the Top 12.

So who should go home tomorrow? I hate to say it, but probably Kady, along with...I don't know...Asia'h? Ramiele? It's getting harder to say as we get further along.

My favorites? Definitely Brooke and probably Kristy Lee Cook or even Syesha for this week.

American Idol - And Then There Were 8

Here we go with 8 boys, y’all.

Please advised that I’m writing this post on my lovely new Spring Green laptop.

I’m positively giddy.

In the past I’ve typed my AI posts on a 10-year-old laptop with no internet connection, saved it to a 3.5 floppy, then opened the file on my desktop and copied it to my blog. Kind of labor intensive and not very fun at all.

Now I’m having fun, and the show hasn’t even started yet! Okay, let’s push Play and get this party started, people.

Random comment number one: Paula may be high. I’m just sayin’. Her eyes look suspiciously droopy.

Luke Menard - Oh no, he is NOT singing Wake Me Up Before You Go Go! I fear this is a tragic mistake. Possibly his last. I’m not ashamed to admit that I like this song, but I DO NOT think it’s right for this competition.

WOW, did you know Paula choreographed George Michael’s tour? I’m sincerely impressed.

Simon and Randy didn’t like it…are we surprised?

David Archuleta sings a Phil Collins song. Is this kid for real? He is just oh, so talented! I think the ending was a little rough, though.

Randy wasn't crazy about it...says it was nice. Paula thinks the fact that he missed a couple notes is a good thing. Go figure. Simon thought he wasn't as good as last week and a bit gloomy.

Tink: I'm voting for him, Momma.

Danny Noriega reminds me of a little gay Sanjaya. Votefortheworst.com is promoting him, which means he may be around for a week or two longer, at least. Unfortunately.

Tink: He was really acting like a real weird girl. And Danny always rolls his eyes at Simon.

David Hernandez is singing a song I don't know. Big Daddy says it's a Celine Dion song, which explains why I don't recognize it. I do my best to avoid hearing Celine Dion songs...oh, but I have heard this one. Just wasn't expecting a guy to sing it.

But I like it, except he kinda clashed with the background singers part of the time. Seemed to me like he started out nearly perfect, and then got kinda off in the end. Randy agrees about missing some notes, but thinks it was a good song choice. Paula thinks it was great. Simon thinks it wasn't as good as last week, but that he's guaranteed to go through to next week.

Michael Johns sings Don't You Forget About Me. I'm not crazy about it. Sounds a little bit awkward to me. And I think he's very pitchy.

Big Daddy: I think he's doin' a good job.
Pooh: Me too.
Tink: I don't. I agree with Momma.

I guess Randy liked it. Hmm. Paula thinks he picked the perfect song and likes the hopping thing he does, whatever that means. Simon liked it, didn't love it, but he really, really likes him.

David Cook sings Hello from Lionel Ritchie. I have to tell y'all, this song recalls very weird memories for me. When I was in college I had very bizarre roommates (not sure what that has to do with anything, but they were CRAZEE). For several weeks I had a horrible time sleeping, I had awful nightmares, and this song ran through my mind All The Time. Probably because of the absolutely creepy video. Drove. Me. Crazy.

Oh, but did I like the song? I don't know, I really didn't pay attention, because did I mention the song weirds me out? Paula and Randy loved it, though. And Simon, he also loved it.

For the record, I still can't stand this guy's hair.

Jason Castro is from Rockwall, Texas! I dated a guy from Rockwall once. Didn't end well at all.

When did this become a walk down Memory Lane?

OOH, I don't know this song, either, and I'm not sure about it.

But Tink's excited because he's singing Hallelujah. Randy gives him props, thinks the level of difficulty was high. Paula thinks he showed a beautiful vulnerability and that his phrasing makes him unique. Simon thinks it was absolutely brilliant, and his strongest performance so far. Good, because I like him if not the song.

Chikezie is singing She Fills Me Up. This was originally a chick song, right? Eh, he's a'ight. Simon thinks it wasn't a very smart move.

So, what do y'all think? I'm voting for David Hernandez and maybe Luke Menard this week. I know Luke wasn't very good, but I'd just like to see him get one more chance, you know? And don't you think Luke Menard is a super-cool name? Archuleta was good, but everybody and their grandmother's gonna be votin' for him, so he doesn't need me.

American Idol - The Girls

Before I get started on the recap, I need to tell you a couple things.

Item Number One: I accidentally deleted the Guys' show from my DVR, hence no commentary on the guys. I have heard, however, that it's quite obvious that Little David is being promoted to win. We'll see.

Item B: I haven't really gotten into the show yet this season, so I know my commentary is pretty basic and mostly negative. I hope that as we go along, I'll become more interested.

NOW let's get to it, shall we?

Syesha Mercado sings Me and Mrs. Jones. Although she changed it to Mr. Jones. I thought parts of it were good and parts were blah. Randy and Paula are with me and Simon didn’t like it at all. I do agree with Simon that it was just weird to hear her singing a song written for a man to sing.

Brook Whoever - Well, she’s been compared to Carly Simon, and now she chooses a Carly Simon song. I liked it, and so did the judges. Especially Simon!

Ramiele Malubay sings Don’t Leave Me This Way. I don’t think it’s the best song for her. She can sing SO MUCH better than this. Randy and Paula agree with me, and Simon agrees with them.

Kristy Lee Cook – You’re No Good. I like it, but will the judges? OOH, she kinda growled there. Judges? Yay, they liked it. Simon thinks she has real potential but that maybe she’d make a stronger impression if she sang Country.

Big Daddy – She’s got my vote through and through.

Amanda Overmyer – Still don’t get it. Carry On My Wayward Son is one of my all-time favorites, so I thought I might like her performance tonight. Except her voice sounds awful when she’s not yelling and I can’t stand to watch her dance. Randy didn’t think it was the right song choice. Paula agreed and Simon absolutely hated it.

Also, Lily Munster called, and she wants her hair back.

Alaina Whitaker may be going home this week. It’s so hard to make Hopelessly Devoted To You sound spectacular. It’s a pretty song, but un-fabulous. Randy said exactly what I’m thinking. Even when she had the chance to belt it out, she lost the note. Simon thought it was pageant-y, but that she’s a dark house and could come back strong.

Tinkerbell: That’s pretty. I’m voting for her, Mommy. I think she did perfect. I don’t think she should lose this time. I think she should win.

Alexandrea Lushington – If You Leave Me Now is another one of my favorite songs. Can you tell I come from the 70’s? The arrangement seems sort of disjointed, her outfit is strange, and her vocals are weird. And the ending sounded like a whole different song. What. Is. Up?

P.S. Alexandrea is wearing Big Daddy’s Work Pants.

Scooter: Nuh uh, Momma, she’s very far away in the TV, and she can’t find ours house to get Daddy’s pants.

Tink: I like it.

Kady Malloy – Singing a Heart song, and it starts off ROUGH. She sounds totally off key, poor thing. SIMON says he’s never heard the song before? Seriously? They didn’t listen to Heart in England? Also, Kady has a hard time concealing her displeasure when she’s criticized. Gotta work on that if she sticks around.

Scooter: I think it’s beautiful, Momma.
Tink: It is rock ‘n roll music, but I don’t like it.

Asia’h Epperson – All By Myself - Oh my, this sounds very awful starting out. And doesn’t get much better in my opinion. I can’t even describe what’s wrong with it. Judges? Randy thinks she did a good job, and Paula thinks she brought it home in the end. Simon disagrees. I think Asia’h has a unique voice, and she has to be very careful in the songs she chooses. Also, and by the way,

Thank goodness it's over. I think the best were Brooke and maybe Kristy Lee Cook. Leaving? I hope we say goodbye to Amanda, for sure. Other than her, I'm not sure. Maybe Alaina, Kady or Alexandrea.

American Idol - Top 12 Girls

Here we are with the Top 12 Girls, folks. They say some of the girls are sick with the flu or bronchitis, so let’s see what they’ve got.

Kristy Lee Cook – Eh.

Joanne Borgella – I think I read somewhere that she won some Mo’Nique Beauty Contest reality show. But can she sing? Why yes, yes she can. Unfortunately, the judges don’t agree with me.

Big Daddy: Okay, she gets a vote.
Tink: She’s my first one I’m voting for.

Carrie Underwood Jr. (Alaina Whitaker) – Pretty good. Randy said that the beginning was rough, but I liked the beginning. Simon likes her, too.

Big Daddy: Okay, she’s gettin’ a nod.

Amanda Overmyer – I just do not like this chick. She seems like such a caricature, seriously, with the hair and the scarves and the black lips and whatnot. And I Can’t Understand a word that she’s singing. Except “please don’t go.” But Randy likes her? I DO NOT get it. Paula loves everything she does? Bizarre. Simon likes her. Did I already say I Don’t Get It?

Tink: She’s not on my list. Evil. Uh uh, dude.

Oh good, we get to listen to Ryan cut on Simon some more. Shut up, Ryan.

Amy Davis – In her interview piece, she seems very humble and I like that. The song is pretty bad, though. Paula’s right; it’s lackluster and not engaging.

Tink: This sounds good. Do you like it? Me too.

Brook White– I like her but the song’s kind of boring.

Big Daddy: Brook’s got my vote already.

Alexandrea Lushington – Her grandmother was just so cute at auditions! Okay, this is one of my all-time favorite songs, but I don’t know about her singing it. She definitely made it her own, but... Well, Randy liked it! Simon didn’t, but he’s having trouble with all this 60’s stuff.

Big Daddy: Eh, didn’t do enough for me. Sounds like she had some trouble, pitch-wise.

Kady Malloy – She made a goofy song sound very Celine Dion. And the girl has a gorgeous voice! In my opinion she’s the best tonight. Sorry, Randy, you’re wrong. You too, Paula. Wah, Simon agrees with them. And what a way to encourage the poor girl, spending 10 minutes talking about how not good she was!

Tink: I like it. It’s a pretty voice and pretty music.

Asia’h Somethington– Sounds off-key to me...just off somehow. But Randy loved it. Okay, y’all, my ears must be out of order, cause I’m not hearing what the judges are. I’m glad they liked her, but I just didn’t hear it.

Tink: She was pretty. I liked the sound of her.

Ramiele Malubay – I wanted her to belt it out MORE! She sang the song pretty, but this song has such potential, and she didn’t meet it. Randy loved, loved. Again with my weird ears, I guess.

Oh my goodness, we still have 2 to go. I’m sleepy, people!

Syesha Mercado – Eh. I think she over-did it. But of course, the judges think she was the best in the whole wide world.

Did I mention I was sleepy?

Carly Smithson – Great. Which means the judges won’t like her, right? Let’s see...oh, Randy likes her! I’m not crazy! And I love Simon, but he’s on crack tonight.

So, my favorites? I don't even know at this point. All the blonde girls are good, and I think Ramiele has potential. Maybe there are too many of them right now, but I just can't get into it yet.

American Idol - Top 12 Guys

Well here we are, people. Another season of listening to Ryan Seacrest’s lame put-downs on Simon. Seriously, y’all, I HATE that aspect of the show. Not a Seacrest fan.

But let’s get on with the spectacular commentary, my peeps. We’re joined tonight by Tinkerbell, Pooh and Big Daddy.

David Hernandez – Cute. Liked him from his very first audition. And tonight...holy crap, I love it. Well, it started out spectacular, ended up ordinary. Simon agrees with me.

Tink likes it.

Chikezie – I’m sorry, y’all, but what the heck kind of name is this? DOES he have a last name? Because I think it’s kind of pretentious to drop your last name when no one’s ever heard of you. I'm just sayin’.

On to the song...kind of unspecial to me. And I absolutely hate it when contestants throw cut-downs at Simon.

Tink: I’m not a fan of Simon. He’s kind of an arguer. I like the singer; liked his voice when he was singing.

David Cook – I hope the stylists get hold of this guy’s hair VERY soon. The song...eh. I think it might be better in a different key. The judges liked it, though.

Pooh: I like it. He’s my favorite.
Tink: Nah, not me.

Jason Yeager – He’s from Grand Prairie! Big Daddy lived in Grand Prairie when I met him.

I love this song. Not sure if he knocked it out, though.

Tink: I wonder if anybody’s gonna sing a Christian song? I wanna sing one on there when I’m bigger.
Pooh: I think he’s good. My favorite.

Robbie Carrico – Don’t know how he did, cause Big Daddy was singing louder than Robbie. Seriously, though, he has a good voice, although I don’t think the song was all that great.

Big Daddy: Good job.
Pooh: He’s my favorite (do we see a trend here?)

David Archuletta – I liked it, but I think the lows may be too low for him. Glad the judges disagree with me! And this little sweetie is so very humble; I love it!

Tink: He’s my first favorite.
Pooh: Absolutely 100% favorite.

Danny Noriega – I liked his performance, but his attitude reminds me of Sanjaya. Spare me. OOH, catfight between the judges, though. The kid handled Simon’s criticism well.

Tink: Now that’s the way to do it.

Luke Somebody – Love the song, but I think maybe it’s not the right key for him? Well...parts of it are really nice, and he’s putting his own spin on it. What do the judges think? Rats, they didn’t like him.

Big Daddy: Hmmm.... wasn’t that good.
Tink: Huh. I don’t think he did anything bad.

Colton Berry – He really does look like Ellen DeGeneres, doesn’t he? Uh oh...more Elvis! I think he did a good job, though.

Garrett Haley – Well isn’t he just the cutest little thing? WOW, does he look like a little peach fuzzy Peter Frampton! Oh kid, I love this song – you’d better do it right! Meh...nothing special. But he’s a sweet kid and he handled the criticism well.

Jason Castro – Go Texas! Nice performance; I do like his voice.

Goodness gracious, are we not done yet?

Michael Johns – I hear this guy has already had some success, maybe with a group or two? Oh, I’m not a fan of this song. And not crazy about his performance, either. The judges disagree with me, though.

Tink: I like him.

Is Penn Jillette the quiet one or the big one? Either way, it should be interesting.

I think Priscilla Presley was a ravishing beauty until she started having plastic surgery. The last few times I've seen her it's like she was wearing one of those clear plastic bank robber masks. Sad.

Big Brother - Til Death Do Us Part

I have a few random thoughts about tonight's premiere.

First and Foremost - Sheila is just awful. When you get paired with a partner, Make The Best Of It, please! She may be the oldest person in the house, but she is definitely the most immature. I think her whining tonight even beat Jen's tantrum last season when she didn't like her cast photo. Who cares if he's your type, dude? This is not the dating game. Form that alliance and play the dadgum game! I feel really sorry for Adam, that's for sure.

I also think it's awful that Jen and Ryan weren't paired together. This is going to be excrutiating unless they bring their partners in on the secret.

Bikini Barista needs to put her boobs away, please. Thanks.

I'm not really feeling Matt, but that's just a first impression.

Survivor Micronesia Premiere - I MISSED IT.

That's right, y'all. I missed the first episode of the new season of Survivor. Wah.

I knew it was coming up, but had no idea it was this soon. One of the pitfalls of using a DVR, I guess. I never watch commercials!

I was oh, so happy to see that Jonny Fairplay was voted off. Now I don't have to be annoyed by him at all this season!

The Biggest Loser Commentary - Jan 22

Let me start off by saying that I think the twist this week SUCKS. How cruel to put Yellow in such an awkward situation! I guess they SORT OF evened it out by giving Yellow complete power if they won, but still. OUCH.

Oh, and also, did Paul get a little obnoxious once they were on the block? And also a little Out There with his kung fu outfit and attitude? Just checking.

And I'll stop right here and say that I hate the whole "vote off the biggest threat" style of game play. That means that whoever wins is NOT, in fact, The Biggest Loser, but The Luckiest or The Most Conniving. Sort of defeats the purpose of the show.

But I can't stand Black. And it's not because they're a threat; it's because that one brother is a big, arrogant jerk. And I hate it when Big, Arrogant Jerks win Reality Shows. (See Evel (sic)Dick, Richard Hatch, etc.)

Anyway.

In the first few weeks, I didn't like Orange, but this week they've grown on me! Jackie reminds me of Mimi Kennedy, who I like a whole bunch, plus she's not so snarky now that Neill's gone, so I'm not mad at her any more.

I was SO delighted when I realized that some of the other teams wanted to ally with Yellow to help eliminate Black. And so NOT delighted when I realized that Black could win immunity. Wah.
Have you noticed my commentary is random here? Yeah, welcome to my world.

So Orange, Blue and half of Purple decide to sort of throw the weigh-in. I wonder why, when Bob told them that they'd better let him know what was going on, they didn't? I wonder why they didn't want Jenn to know what they were doing? Anyone?

And in true Reality Show Fashion, Ali decided that it was unjust that she was voted off.

Miss Pink, let's review, shall we? Paul and Kelly are not the biggest threat; they're maybe 3rd, I'd say, behind Black, Gray and Orange. YOU voted for them in the Fake Elimination. Why? Oh yes, because you're in an alliance with Black and Gray. Why you didn't vote Orange I don't know.

In fact, why didn't Orange get votes in the Fake Elimination Vote? Anyone?

Anyway. It amazes me how people on reality shows are insulted and indignant when they're voted off. Dude, you just voted FOR TEAM YELLOW TO LEAVE. How are they not gonna want you gone? They know that you're the reason they're in jeopardy, and P.S., you'll try to get them gone again if you stay.

So Shut UP.

And yes, last week I liked Pink. And the week before that. Well, Bette Sue mostly, but tonight she was even sort of a jerk about the elimination. In fact, I think they may be the poorest sports in Biggest Loser History. What do you think?

Here's my usual random commentary on this week's episode of The Biggest Loser.

STILL LOVE Bette-Sue. Love. Her. Except why does she wear reading glasses all the time? Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Didn't like Jackie and Dan making fun of Neill. This early in the game, most of the other contestants seem pretty supportive of everyone, so to see them laughing AT Neill and being mean-spirited really stood out.

And speaking of Neill, I was so impressed with the way Jillian handled him outside. And the fact that he took her words to heart and began changing his attitude.

I thought Jay and Mark should have given the phone cards to the teams who finished the challenge. Obviously, there's nothing wrong with them giving the cards to the teams they like the best. It just seems to me that they would have gained more good will down the road if they'd been more objective with their choices.

Food Temptation. Meh. I still don't get Jay's rationale that since Paul had 900 calories left to eat that day, he'd go ahead and eat, too. Did I miss something? How do Paul's 900 calories affect whether or not Jay can eat?

When I watched the Biggest Loser Australia marathon, one thing I liked was this: Each Temptation was tied into a chance to win immunity for that week's elimination. Makes more sense to me.

Why does Roger look so familiar to me? Anyone? Has he been on some other reality show, like Wife Swap or something?

The weight losses this week were very low compared to usual for the show. Actually, they were more in line with real life, huh?

I was oh, so sad to see Curtis and Mallory go. Very.

Survivor 16 - Micronesia!

Thursday, February 7 is the big day, y'all! Survivor will be back with their latest incarnation - Fans vs. Favorites.

Now, I don't know whose favorites these are; I only really, really like about half of them. But I guess we all know that they're really chosen for ratings, not actual likability.

The fans are unknowns, obviously, but here are the ones I think I might like:

Erik - This is one cute kid! He looks so sweet and fun and cuddly; we'll see...
Joel - He's a firefighter! And he looks like he might be nice. Plus, I always like to see people over 30 who aren't from California on this show!
...well, that's about it for the newbies, I guess. I'll definitely have more opinions after the show premieres!

Now for the "favorites." Here are MY favorites in order:

James - Tied with Cirie for my top spot. I can not believe he had two idols and still went home. I hope he wizens up this season.
Cirie - Tied with James.
Jonathan - Sorry, y'all, but I really did like Jonathan! I think he doesn't mean to be obnoxious and he really has a good heart. I'm hoping that he learned some things by watching his past season, and he'll be able to tone down the bad spots and improve on the good.
Ozzy - He was sweet, right?
Yau-Man - Poor guy got totally duped last time by Dreamz. TOTALLY. He should have told him, "You can have the truck AFTER you take me to the final 3." But I love his heart.

My not so favorite "favorites:"

Didn't like Amanda - She acted like she was really surprised that people were upset by her lying to them and then voting them out. I was amazed that to the end, she seemed surprised that anyone would be upset by her back-stabbing. I realize that back-stabbing is part of the game. Just acknowledge that you did the stabbing, please.

Jonny Fairplay - I've seen this guy be sincerely nice sometimes, but otherwise he's sickening. I would love it if the other contestants would realize that if you don't feed the fire, it goes out. Just don't give the guy any attention when he's acting ridiculous.

So here's my fantasy scenario: James, Jonathan, Yau-Man and Cirie team up. Maybe they ask Ozzy or even Jonny Fairplay to join them. They can neutralize Fairplay for awhile if he's aligned with them. They have to be vigilant in watching for his defection, though. They vote off the cute, cocky, manipulating girls one by one.

Hmmm...it would appear I'm rooting for all the men, plus Cirie. Oh well...

Random Thoughts and The Biggest Loser

I have watched The Biggest Loser Australia for three days on Fox Reality. The show's done differently there, but YAY! Bob's there!

Also watched The Biggest Loser Couples last night. Where's Kim, y'all? Did she just get dumped because Jillian decided to come back? That would suck.

TBL Couples I like:
The Pink Team - I hope Bettie Sue stops grousing about everything and being so negative. She could be fun, I think.
The Yellow Team - I'm a big ol' nosy butt, so I wanna know why she left him.
The White Team
The Blue Team

Couples I'm not crazy about:
The Orange Team
The Green Team - I found it ironic that Jenn was complaining about her father the entire episode, and even after they went home, but she was the person with the lowest weight loss. She absolutely REFUSED to acknowledge that if it weren't for her low weight loss, they wouldn't have been beneath the yellow line and his attitude would not have been an issue. I wanted them to stay, because I wanted him to get happy.
The Purple Team - Please stop whining. And telling us that since you're 22 years old, everything should be easier for you. It's not, is it?

In other news, I may check out Celebrity Apprentice later on this week. Don't know how long that'll stay on the play list, though.

Amazing Race - The Ronald Is A Lunatic Episode

I haven’t figured out the best way to arrange my comments yet, so let me know if this makes sense or seems disjointed to you.

Hoist it or Hunt it – At first glance, I’d definitely pick Hoist It. Seems like it would go quickly. Oh, but there are all sorts of knots they have to do. Hmmm...maybe Hunt It instead?

Nicholas and Donald – I loved when Nicholas called Kynt “Pinkie.” Oh, holy night, Gramps stripped down to his Speedo to jump the ditch. Can you please tell me why Gramps had on a Speedo to begin with? Ugh. “My Grandpa made it over the river, showing that anger and frustration pays off in the end.”

Ronald and Christina – Wow, he really went off on Nicolas for being rude in the airport, didn’t he? Maybe Nicholas was rude; he was definitely aggressive. I just don’t understand why Ronald got so upset when it didn’t have anything at all to do with him.

I’m starting to think that Ronald may be a little crazy. He’s wasting time ranting and...WOW, yeah, he’s definitely crazy. Totally in left field. Hopefully it’s temporary, cause WOW. And hello, dude, this is a race, so stopping in the road to make sure your daughter understands exactly how little you respect her isn't good game...or very human, for that matter!

Oh my goodness, and he can’t even shut his trap long enough for her to jump the ditch. He wants her to stand there listening to him degrade her instead of trying the jump again. Unbelievable.

TK and Rachel – So glad they didn’t start yelling at each other over Hoist It. I think it’s pretty funny that she had to go down and finish the challenge. And she’s not the only chick who hauled that stuff, either! These girls are strong!

Lorena and Jason – Things seemed ridiculously easy for them on this leg of the Race. They hauled that furniture like pros, and then he flew over that ditch quick, didn’t he?

Here we are for another exciting season of The Amazing Race! I was so excited when I realized the season was premiering early. Here are my impressions of the teams, in no certain order.

Nathan and Jennifer – These two have got to stop bitching at each other. Also, please stop calling K & V “The Freaks.” That’s just rude. They really upset their donkey, too. Not spreading a lot of love, these guys.

Azaria & Hendekea – So far I like ‘em.

TK & Rachel – I hope they’re as nice as they look

Ronald & Christina – Like ‘em. They seem sweet!

Kynt & Vykxin – I’m already tired of them talking about their Gothness. Get over yourselves, please. I want to like you, so please stop annoying me.

Donald & Nicholas – Like ‘em, but they’ve got to get it together. There’s no sense of urgency here.

Staella and Ari – Also mistreating the donkey. Which came back and bit ‘em in the butt. Disappointing, because I thought they might be fun to watch this season.

The rest of the teams – Eh. Nobody else really struck me one way or the other.

Okay, so there’s no one that I really dislike so far. Hopefully Nathan and Jennifer will chill out a bit, and K & V will get over themselves.

I can’t wait till next week!

Wow, it would be so much easier to blog TV if I had a laptop. You know what, I almost went and bought that Secret Friday Acer at Wal-Mart, but decided to wait and see if a better one comes along before Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Survivor China - Tonight's Episode

Sorry, y'all, but I can't keep up with the episode numbers. I just wanna get my opinions in here and go watch ER.

Some thoughts about tonight's show:

I really liked the blond chick (Jamie?) on the small tribe in the beginning, but still hate her game play. Don't like Pee Gee (I know that's not how you spell it. I'm too lazy to look it up.).

Loved the immunity plan between Little Gay Guy and James the Gravedigger. Too bad Denise couldn't choke down that feathery bird. James tried dang hard to throw that challenge, but dadgum!

Courtney has bugged me with her attitude since Day One. Jean Robert's not a nice guy, but get over it! It's not the most important thing about Survivor, girl! Stop whining and maybe he'll lay off you a bit.

Sherea's attitude at Tribal Council was just unbelievable! She was awfully cocky for someone who HAD to know that she was in danger of going home! If I was undecided, she would have convinced me to send her home, FOR SURE.

So. Glad she's gone. Can't wait to see next week. Peace out.

Survivor Sucks

I have never been so disgusted with an episode of Survivor as I was tonight.

These chicks on the Fei Long tribe are the most ridiculous, brainless, heartless...things! that I have ever seen. I really, really don't like to talk like that, but I am so beyond disgusted at tonight's episode!

These girls' strategy is obviously flawed, but the attitudes bother me EVEN MORE. Laughing while throwing a challenge? I've agreed with throwing a challenge before, when the point was to get rid of someone who was a detriment to the TEAM, but these girls are giving up team members based on something that MIGHT happen weeks from now!

Oh, and P.S. Please correct me if I'm wrong...really. As far as I can recall, whenever teams are mixed up, they always talk about how many allies they'll have after the merge, but it almost never goes down that way! Every day the sun rises, alliances change! So to vote off the strongest current members of your tribe, to protect your former tribe members, WHO ARE ON THE OTHER TRIBE NOW, is ridiculous.

Okay, my options now are to keep ranting or to put something else on the DVR, quickly.

And since I don't want to alienate all 8 of my Entertainment Blog readers, I'll shut up now.

Y'all. I haven't posted in humpteen days. Yeah, sorry about that. I really need a laptop so I can write these posts while I'm watching TV. Cause my memory sucks and afterwards, I can't remember what I wanted to say.

But here's a VERY RANDOM run-down of my thoughts on this season's TV so far. In no particular order, because order is overrated.

THE BIGGEST LOSER - There have never been so many man boobs in one place in the history of the world. Not even on previous seasons of TBL. I am so sad for those guys that they have to take off their shirts every week. Even sadder than I am about the girls wearing those small sports bras.

KID NATION - Like it, watch it with my girls. Can't stand Taylor. That's about it.

SURVIVOR - SO glad that Dave left last week. Sherea needs to go next.

BEAUTY AND THE GEEK - I'm so glad Will and Rebecca left last week. I think the only other person I really dislike is the tall athletic girl who's not really beautiful. She looks like she smells something stinky, and she's always mean to her little bitty partner, whose hair was dyed red this week. Know who I mean? Yeah, I don't like her.

HOUSE - Welcome back, dude. I wish he wouldn't re-hire Cameron. Can't stand her.

HEROES - I'm two weeks behind on watching this one. ACK!

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - Holey Moley, y'all have got to watch this show. I love it oh, so much.

DANCING WITH THE STARS - I'm bored, but still watching. I HATE the fact that there is a house band. Why can't they have A-list music instead of studio musicians? Also, Carrie Ann Inaba, get over the "no lifts" deal, or disqualify 'em. Stop arguing about it.

Sam is a bit full of himself. Oh, and he’s a total ditz, too.
I do not like David’s attitude. Just don’t. He actually told Jasmine that she was his last choice. Jerko.

The Geeks’ Challenge - Rapping

Poor little Tony is so self-conscious. He’s like a lost kitten, just so cute and afraid.
I feel really sorry for Nicole, the female geek, being partnered with Sam.
Will’s rap was cute.
Wow, I think maybe John’s rap was the best of all!
And the judges picked my two guys! The winner is...WILL!

You know, I don’t mean to keep picking on Sam, but I just realized why he seems so awful to me. Combine ditz with macho arrogance, and you have...Sam.

The Beauty Challenge - Debate

Holy Moley, Rebecca sounded HORRIBLE debating minimum wage.
Betty Boop did really well talking about oil drilling, and she was cute while she was doing it.
Katie rocked it, talking about Third World debt.
Shay had a good argument against lowering the drinking age, but she doesn’t speak very professionally at all.
Uh oh, Sam nailed it with his rebuttal about the drinking age. Maybe he’s not as ridiculous as he seems.
The Winner of the Beauty portion of our competition is...SAM?

Nominated for eviction are Amanda and Tony, Natalie and John. I really like both of those teams. Wah.

Poor Little Tony and Amanda. And now, I have to ask you to leave the mansion.

Oh no, they don’t have real music? I mean, it always seems weird to me to hear the house band version of a song, rather than the popular recorded version. Sort of like elevator music. Oh well...

Jennie Garth & Derek Hough - She did a good split! Other than that, I liked it; not much more to say.

Josie Marin & Alec Mazo – She seems very full of herself. Who says, “I’m a Super Model?” Seriously? The dance was okay...Ooh, the judges didn’t like it though, did they?

Sabrina Bryan & Mark Ballas, Jr. – I’m not sure if it’s “textbook” as Sabrina said, but I like it. Let’s see what the judges have to say. WOW – The judges loved it. (It should also be noted that this couple is the early favorite of our guest judge, Tinkerbell of Dirty Laundry.)

Marie Osmond & Jonathan – Folks, I love me some Osmonds, but I’m gonna have to diss Marie a little here. Even though she’s older and maybe a tiny bit thick, she doesn’t have to look MATRONLY, for goodness sakes. That dress is like a Miss America dress from the 1980’s, people! She looks much cuter in the rehearsal clips and interviews than she does in her costume. Aw, but she’s dancing good, y’all. She just needs a wardrobe person or stylist who will dress her to suit her fuller figure. Oh, and the judges liked her. Good.

Mel B & Maksin Hmerkovskiy (or whatever his name is)- He’s awfully cute now, isn’t he? I didn’t want to like her, but I think they’re VERY good. Right?! Judges?

Jane Seymour & Tony Dovolani – I heart Jane Seymour! Love. Her. Didn't you just love her in Somewhere in Time? I watched that movie over and over and over again. Gives me chills just thinking about it. Oh...they’re dancing. Ooh, and this song makes me think of Kim Basinger in that blockbuster, The Marrying Man. Who knew she could sing like that? Oh yeah, the dancing. It’s lovely. Very sweet. Beautiful dress. Aw, Tony hearts Jane!

Survivor China - Premiere

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

There has been more than one season of Survivor where the castaways have been thrown out with just the clothes on their backs. Don’t you think that people would have tried to plan their wardrobe to allow for that possibility?

And regarding the Buddhist temple...Jeff said that it wasn't a worship ceremony. I don't know about you, but when people are folding their hands, kneeling and bowing their heads in front of a bunch of idols, that's worship. Tink even said, "That lady left because she didn't want to worship those false idols." Amen, sister!

And here's what I think of the castaways:

Courtney the waitress is completely spoiled and disrespectful.

Jean-Robert needs to lay off with the whole “I’m a poker player, so I can read people.” It’s coming off a little pretentious. Also, I’d like if he would put his shirt back on. Thanks.

And did I mention that Courtney the waitress from New York is a spoiled brat? Yeah.

Sherea is saying, “I’m not an outdoorsy girl.” Uhm, yeah, did she know she was going on Survivor? “This is way harder than I expected.” Girl, it’s the first day! Get a grip. Oh, and could you please stop walking around in your Bali bra? Thanks.

I really wanted to like Chicken, but so far it’s not happening.

I like James the Gravedigger. He reminds me of the big guy in The Green Mile, who made me cry in the first 5 minutes of the movie. James almost made me cry with his humility. I hope nothing happens to change my opinion.

I think it’s ironic that the wrestling girl is the weakest, so far.

FIRST CHALLENGE

Oh yay, they get to keep their running shoes! I wasn’t sure how they were gonna handle 39 days in high heels and combat boots.

Fei Long wins! Really doesn’t make any difference to me at this point.

MOVING ON

I think it’s gonna be sad if Peih-Gee goes home because she’s bossy. She was so happy to be there and connect with her Chinese roots! But she’s a little too arrogant, isn’t she?

Liking Chicken a little bit more, but I’m pretty sure his mouth is gonna get him in trouble. He’s missing that filter between his redneck brain and his mouth.

The Biggest Loser - Episode 2

Previously on The Biggest Loser...

Okay, y’all, I totally missed the Season Premiere of The Biggest Loser last week. I’m not gonna recap it; you can find recaps here and here.

I’m just gonna start with this week, okay? And I'll warn you that until we get further into the season, I'll just be randomly spewing my opinions. Okay.

First and foremost, let me tell you that my biggest beef with The Biggest Loser is the fact that they make the ladies wear those horrible sports bras for weigh-in. They let the stupid guys wear T-shirts, but make the ladies show their guts. For that reason alone, I would NEVER apply for that show. Also, the fact that I might puke on the first day. But mostly, it's the sports bra thing.

Oh...but the guys are taking off their shirts for the weigh-in. Oh my.

Bless their hearts, but the Red Team women have crappy attitudes! Why in the Sam Hill did these people go to all the trouble of applying for this show, if they were gonna argue and walk out of workouts?

Even though they have crappy attitudes, I’m pleased to see that they actually have some BIG girls this season. In the past, they’ve all been in the 190-250 range, but there are lots of girls over 250 this season! 277, 267, 287...go big girls!

I don’t have much more to say about this week’s episode; I’m sure I’ll have much more to say as the numbers dwindle down and we get to know the contestants better.

Big Brother Rant - Final Two

I hate that the Donatos are in the Final Two.

It's very bizarre to me that one person can be so human and likable one day, and then just VILE the next. It's disconcerting because I genuinely like him on his good days, and genuinely despise him on his jerk days. But unfortunately, Jerk trumps Good Guy, in my opinion. So he's a jerk.
But I really believe he loves his daughter.

Here's what I think about Danielle:

She cheated on her boyfriend. Just flat-out dumped him on national television and never spoke his name again. NICE.
For the first however many weeks, she laid in that bed with Nick and mooned over him. She let him vow his undying devotion to her (which...sincere? I doubt it) and neither encouraged nor discouraged him. It was very weird to me.
She made no effort to get to know the other people in the house until Nick was gone, and then whined because "you don't know me!" Yeah, cause you've been laying in a bed for three weeks, chick!
She's a spoiled brat.
I would love for someone to hold her down and chisel that makeup off her face so America can see what she really looks like. Never seen her without it once.
In that bikini last night, it looked like she had put on some weight. Good for her, cause she looked skeletal in the beginning!

I would just like to hear them say, "Wow, we made it!" or "We really lucked out," instead of "We dominated! We ruled this thing!" and crap like that. In my opinion, here are the reasons they're in the Final Two:

Danielle did great in Veto competitions
Together, they betrayed agreements with Kail, Nick, Eric, Dustin, Jen, Jessica, Eric again. Have I forgotten anyone?
The other houseguests made bad decisions when they decided to evict other people when they had opportunities to evict Dick and Danielle.

That's not domination, that's pure luck. Just call it what it is, guys.

Who do I want to win? Dick. And here's why: I think that if Danielle wins that money, Dick will never hear from her again. I'm spiteful, and I want to see Danielle LOSE. I want her to have to wait for Dick to pay for college or whatever he decides to do for her. I want her to learn a little humility. Hopefully when Dick's not in a competition, he's a little nicer. Hopefully. But I believe that the Danielle we saw is who she really is. And it's not pretty, no matter how much makeup you put on it.

I'm sure I've got more to say, but I've got to clean the dadgum house. So I'll leave you with my primary pet peeve of all reality shows.

I HATE IT when people who have deceived, betrayed, and otherwise been sneaky GO ALL IRATE when someone does it right back to them. Happens all the time on Survivor and Big Brother. My favorite example of this is BB6 when Kaysar betrayed an agreement with the fireman guy (Eric?) early in the season, and then acted all noble and ethical when others betrayed agreements to him. Just now happened when Zach nominated the Donatos. HATE IT.

Big Brother Rant - Double Elimination

YUCK. That's what I have to say about tonight's show. YUCK.

I hate that Dick and Danielle are in the Final 4. Can't stand it. And here's why.

Danielle's devious and a spoiled brat. Yeah, that about says it.

Dick is horrible, and I can't stand it when mean people get ahead. It implies to other mean people that their way is right. And it's just not.

Zach is icky. "I made an oath to my group." Gag me. Your group is using you, dude. And I don't care about you at all, so it won't even matter to me if you win. In fact, I'm probably 50/50 between you and Jameka, just because I dislike the Donatos so much.

Jameka is hypocritical and makes Christians look bad.

Wow, great choices there.

But I really, really love that it looks like Eric and Jessica sincerely care about each other. But will it last?

Melinda Doolittle with Michael W. Smith!

Oh my, y'all, Melinda Doolittle will be joining Michael W. Smith on his Christmas Tour this year. I may swoon.

In the distant past, Big Daddy and I had the privilege of seeing Michael W. Smith in concert with Amy Grant, three or four years in a row. See, I love Amy Grant Christmas music, with Michael W. Smith coming in a close, close second. Ask me my favorite song, and chances are that it's a Christmas song.

So, seeing Michael W. Smith in concert at Christmas, very sentimental and also exciting. Add Melinda Doolittle? Be still my heart.

Now I've just gotta figure out how to swing attending a concert 50 miles away on a school/work night. My fingers are crossed.

Im totally with you on the Dick situation....he has to be the most repulsive human around. All of his ugliness is his own creation; being mean, trying to intimidate people, he is a bully, AND he is old enough to be everyone's dad (which you would think would make him more mature...although, he IS Dani's dad, and has royally done a horrible job, so I guess being a dad doesnt mean much at all.....)

Yeah, I just have no tolerance AT ALL for people who are mean to others. The attacks he made on almost everyone in the house were just the most horrible things I've ever seen. I really don't see how anyone can be around him, even after he calms down. How do you have a normal conversation with someone who 12 hours earlier called you the most vile names I've ever heard?

As much as I cant stand Jen (who cries about their picture? who removes pictures of their mom?) and I think she provoked Dick re: the cigarette....I think it was absolutely wrong that BB ever let Dick get that carried away with pouring tea on someone, and burning them with his cig. He has been given too much leeway and I think he is dangerous.

I really thought that Dick should have been penalized for pouring that tea on her head. That is DEFINITELY physical, and to me it's no different than hitting someone or pushing, etc. It makes no sense to me that CBS would allow that to go. Where is the line? If the tea had been hot, would that have been okay? I think they allowed a lot of Dick's behavior because it gets ratings, and to me that is repulsive.

But maybe I'm being hypocritical, because I'm still watching, aren't I?

Anyhoo.....I actually like Zack. He wasnt my first choice, but I dont know why people dont like him, and I happen to think he has been nice, normal, and made sense in a house of crazies.

I am still pretty ambivalent about Zach. I guess the only thing I have against him at this point is that he seems to be aligning with the Donatos, and I'm rooting for Eric and Jessica.

I think he made a big mistake by putting up Jameka. His best plan would have been to pick one person from the two "diads" (either dick or dani AND either Jess or Eric)....He wouldnt look like he was out to get any particular group, and it would leave the true decision up to Jameka. If POV was used on anyone, he could just put up the other member of that diad, again, leaving the final decision to Jameka.

Sounds like good strategy to me. I never considerd that option, but it makes perfect sense. It looks like Zach never considered it, either. He just automatically chose one "diad" over another, instead of splitting them up. BRILLIANT strategy, Kim! Too bad you're not in there.

That would make Jameka the "bad guy", Zach wouldnt have made anyone too mad.

Sounds good to me.

The next HOH cant be Zach, and it cant be Jameka....so, he needs to not take the power away from one of the diads, rather than have them both against him.
Should be interesting to see how this all pans out.

BTW, you aint seen trash-tv til you watch FLAVA OF LOVE, did you watch that?? TRAIN WRECK!

Y'all, I'm not very optimistic about this week. I think I've laid it out there before that I'm an Eric and Jessica fan. I actually like Dustin too, but he's long gone, so...

So. I would just hate for Dick or Danielle to win, because I'm all about messages, and I think it sends a horrible message about getting ahead in this world. Dick is the scum of the earth. Yeah, he acts human sometimes, but that absolutely does not make up for the fact that he is disgusting, has no manners, pesters his daughter every time she has a frown on her face, and has verbally abused every person who's passed through that house. Except Jessica maybe; has he attacked her yet?

I would just hate for Dick, and all the others like him in this world, to think that horrible behavior is the way to get what you want. UGH.

But, now that Jessica and Jameka are nominated, it looks like the Donatos have a pretty good chance of going all the way. I sure hope I'm wrong, and that something else big happens, and quick.

It's going to be a very long week.

My friend Shoeaddict left a comment last week with her opinions on some of the houseguests. Because comments were not coming to me by e-mail, I didn't notice hers until this week, and I thought it would be fun to reprint her comment, along with my own opinions.

Shoeaddict: I just cannot stand AMBER. The crying drives me crazy. I'm a cryer. I'm sensitive but, (a) I'd never be on a reality show and (b) how does she deal with life when she cries over thing s that don't even have anything to do with her?

Queen of Dirty Laundry: Yeah, her crying seems to be a bit over-the-top. I have no doubt that it's real; I just think she's got mental problems. I really, really wanted to like her, but she lost me when I realized how "off" she is.

S: Jessica's voice drove me nuts from the get go but I don't hate her.

Q: I really, really did not like Jessica in the beginning. On the Showtime Feeds, she just sat around watching people all the time. Plus, her hair drives me crazy, to this day. But, she's grown on me, and I have a strange fondness for her now.

S: Eric- I didn't hate him. I don't like the idea of an AP but, I think the powers that be have screwed it all up.

Q: Always like Eric, because I like to root for the underdog. Hate America's Player, unless he CHOSE it, and it's my understanding that he did not have a choice in the matter. Plus, the America's Player tasks are LAME!

S: Jameka- I like her and wouldn't mind her winning.

Q: She drives me crazy with her "Mmm hmmm..." when she's talking with someone. Instead of putting her own opinion out there, she just pseudo-agrees. I also REALLY hated it when she said, "Your momma's a bitch," to Dick. Lots of times. I know that Christians are just normal people who get mad sometimes but she's just such a VOCAL Christian, that I cringed when she let her temper get the best of her and acted so UN-Christian.

S: Jen- NEVER liked her from the minute she opened her mouth.
Q: I AGREE. She was also off her rocker.

S: Zach- I feel sorry for him... I don't understand why everyone is so mean to him.
Q: I just don't have an opinion about Zach. I've tried, but I just don't. To quote Amber, "I just can't."

S: Let me also say that from the first episode I hated that Dick & Daniele were in the house together. The other two "enemies" were fun and catty and good tv. This relationship is a father and a daughter. No matter how f'ed up he is and she is, that is her DAD. This is his CHILD. I just don't think that it's "funny" or whatever to exploit the dysfunction of their family.

Q: Yeah, seems like the producers really gambled on casting the two of them, because there was absolutely no way to know how it would turn out, and it could have been REALLY ugly.

S: And (after I just ranted about that) what is the deal with her mother? I don't recall hearing about that story. Or really "their" story... I know that she's "FRUSTRATED". I know that his mom helped raise Dani. I know there is a brother.

Q: Don't know about Dani's mother. The brother's name is Vincent, and he and Dick are very close. Danielle says that the only time he ever calls, he wants something. Ironically, per Dick, Vincent says the same thing about Danielle. Sounds like typical family crap to me.

S: Anyway, I'd love to see Jameka win. I'd also like Dani and Dick in the top two because it would be just very much that they played the game very well. Dani plays the game very well.

Q: My opinion might not be very popular, but I really want to see Eric and Jess in the final two, and then hopefully she would win. But I wouldn't hate it if he won.

S: OK, how sick of me are you now??

Q: NOT SICK AT ALL! I'm glad I have at least one reader who enjoys watching trash TV and then over-analyzing it, just like I do! Thanks, Shoeaddict!

BONUS HOT AIR:

Danielle - I don't really like her. She led Nick on for however many weeks (and don't get me started on Nick. I'm the only person in America who doesn't think he's a god.), even though she had a boyfriend outside the house. She half-heartedly agreed to evict him, and then felt so guilty that she immediately tried to pin the whole thing on Eric. Twisted, in my opinion.

Also, for the first few weeks, every time she talked to Dick, we got to hear, "I'm SOOO FRUSTATED! This is SOOO FRUSTRATING!" "You DOOOON't understand how hard this is for me!" Over and over and over and over.

Plus, she should have thought ahead about her root situation. I'm pretty sure they would have let her pack some hair bleach.

And finally, I really, really want to know what Dani looks like without makeup. She's never without it.

Dick - First and foremost, there is no excuse for the way that he's talked to people in this house. Whether it's strategy or not, I have never seen anyone be so mean in my life. And if he won this sucker, I would be SO PISSED OFF. To reward such horrible behavior would be a travesty.

And back to the Nick situation, if I remember correctly, Dick spearheaded the effort to evict Nick. And yet, when his daughter decided, based on a stupid banner, that Eric was to blame, Dick jumped on that bandwagon right away. Ticked me off.

Okay, I think I'm done for tonight. I really, really wish I had a laptop so that I could watch and blog at the same time. Put a good word in with Santa if you see him, 'kay?

Big Brother Eviction

While I don't think that Dustin is as evil as Dick would have people think, I was not really sad to see him go this week. I think I would have been okay with either Dick or Dustin going, really.

On most of the Big Brother forums, my opinion is in the minority, but I like Eric. There, I've said it. I like Eric. I don't see where he's been this "big liar" that he's made out to be, except for where the America's Player tasks are concerned. My opinion is, I'm not gonna hold that crap against the guy, because he's just trying to get along best he can, without being able to do things his own way.

Late last night on Showtime, I saw Dick talk to Amber and Jameka, "explaining" to them why things happened the way they did. I was impressed with the fact that he didn't automatically throw Eric and Jessica under the bus, but I was also surprised with his faulty memory. Dick mentioned several times the way the way "The Group" turned on he and Danielle the prior week. It's like he's completely forgotten the week before that, when he and Danielle decided that Eric, also a member of "The Group," was the devil and nominated him for eviction.

Dick's Version:
Everyone was happy
Eric got us to evict Nick
Everyone turned on Danielle and me.

What Really Happened:
Everyone was happy
The entire group agreed to evict Nick, especially Dick (Nick was standing between Dick and his daughter)
Danielle was so upset that Nick got evicted (even though she voted him out) that when she saw an airplane banner calling Eric a liar, she decided everything was Eric's fault.
Dick went along with Danielle's lunacy to get closer to her.
"The Group" decided to support Eric, rather than going along with Dick and Danielle.
"The Group" then nominated Dick and Danielle for eviction, because they had gone rogue.

What I see a lot on forums around the net, is that people decide who they like (often Dick) and don't like (often Eric), and then instead of just saying, "I just don't like him," they spice things up by saying, "He's a weasel," or "He's such a liar," to support their opinion. Problem is, I don't often see facts to back up their accusations. I like facts.

Well, there you have my rambling commentary on this week's Big Brother 8. Do with it what you will.

Quick Fix Meals

Y'all, I just found the greatest show on Food Network. I don't watch a lot of daytime TV, but when I do, it's either HGTV or Food Network. But honestly, most of my spare time is spent right here on this computer.

I keep telling Big Daddy and Grandaddy that if I had a laptop, then I could multi-task, but so far the laptop fairy has not made it to my house. But I digress.

I sat down this afternoon and turned on Food Network, and found Quick Fix Meals. This show rocks! I didn't catch the beginning, but it looks like the premise is cooking ahead. On this show, she cooked chicken breasts on Day 1, then used them in meals for Day 2 and Day 3. I think she may have even put together the Mexican Lasagna for Day 2 on Day 1.

People, this is my kind of cooking. Do as much ahead of time as I can, with two benefits. Benefit 1 is that I'm ahead of the game later in the week. Benefit 2 is that if part of my meals are prepared ahead of time, then I have to stick with my menu plan.

I already loved Paula Deen, Rachael Ray and some of the other shows on Food Network, but this chick (I should probably find out her name!) on Quick Fix Meals is my new favorite. I've already set up my DVR to record all the shows.

As my girls would say, "I'm so excitick!"

Richard Davis is Back!

So I'm cruising through my channel guide this weekend, since my lazy butt wanted badly to be in bed, and I see this show called The Real Deal. I must have passed it three or ten times, and finally happened to click over there to see what it was.

And lo and behold, it's Richard Davis and the gang from Trademark Properties! I was so disappointed when their A&E show (Flip This House, Flip That House, Flip My House, whichever one it was) was canceled, and have been waiting patiently for the rumored new show on TLC to start. And I guess it snuck in without me knowing it, cause I didn't know what it was called. But I found it now, and am a happy camper.

Some observations...well, really just one.

What is the deal with Ginger? She starts out as an intern, and now she's like Richard's right-hand girl? And who goes to raggedy construction job sites in heels? She's got to wear her heels, but she can't be bothered to fix her hair? Ever?
